From School Library Journal
YA-- Hundreds of examples prove the author's point that while it is true a picture is worth a thousand words, it is equally true that a word is worth a thousand pictures. Type itself illustrates this through its many functions. Brier brings together wonderful samples of creative layout and type design, presenting new trends in unique ways. The text is well written but brief--just four pages--readers are forced to learn from the wide variety of full-color illustrations of posters, packages, and numerous other promotionals. Although the audience may be limited, this will be appreciated by any student in a graphics design unit.
