LONGING, Roy s third full-length release as a solo artist and
his major label debut-at the age of 48 which will be released May
20 on Decca Records. The new album reflects his joy in capturing
universal sentiments with honest words and inventive arrangements,
and is joined on the album by a stellar supporting cast that includes
vocalists Amos Lee ( Busy Thinking Bout Today ), Madeleine
Peyroux ( Exceptionally Ordinary ), and rising Philly star
Melody Gardot ( A Meditation... ).

It is a rare instance when you can find a CD that doesn't have a bad song. It is a rarer instance when you can find an artist that doesn't have a bad song. This is how I feel about Phil Roy.

I have been a fan from years. I have seen him in person. I have always looked forward to hearing him on the radio. I have made others fans of his.

This CD is no different. His characteristic voice. His use of a lyric. The transition between songs. It is the total package.

Highlights: "Exceptionally Ordinary" and "A Deeper Meaning".

First, don't even think about downloading one or two songs from this. The entire CD is brilliant and will be a joy to your ears and heart.

Second, beware-- you may stop listening to other music-- at least for some time.

Seriously, this CD is extraordinary in so many ways. If you are not familiar with Phil Roy's music, this is a great introduction. Just expect to NEED to pick up the rest of his CDs shortly after acquiring this one. No. I have not financial interest at all in supporting Phil Roy. The only interest I might have would be to hope that the success he deserves for this CD will speed the release of his next CD.

I'm pretty sure I have never written as enthusiastic review as this one.
BTW, I have a a music collection of at least 1000 CDs tapes and records.

There's no doubt, that since I bought this CD pre-release, at a live concert, I've listened to it more than any other recording I own. Regarding live performances-- if you can make one, do it. They're great.
