The Trashmen, known almost exclusively today for "Surfin' Bird", were the greatest surf band ever to come out of Minnesota. The first 12 tracks, recorded in 1964, are from the recording sessions from the group's second album. For unknown reasons, that album was never released. The album is a decent mix of surf instrumentals, covers of early rock and roll classics, and okay original songs. The remaining four songs are from 1966. They find the group moving away from the surf sound, and moving towards a folk rock sound (sort of). All tracks are in mono. Fans of surf music should dig it.
