Motivation pumps people up, but is often temporary and leaves when the "pumper" leaves. Inspiration lifts you up and remains when you leave. More than just show and explain how these great leaders motivate, this terrific book demonstrates how these leaders inspired their people to be all that they could be... and then some.

If you want to infuse energy in your people at work or in your personal life, you will be lifted up and pumped up by Baldoni's book and want to pass the energy on.

You remember stories long after concepts have left your mind. The stories that GREAT MOTIVATION SECRETS tells will stay with you long enough to emulate the "best practices" of these great leaders so that one day you, too, will have great stories of your own.

A must read for anyone who wants to energize the people around them.

I've always seen motivation as more than what most do. It isn't something that is short lived if we don't want it to be. Like anything motivation can be kept alive through the use of logical steps.

You won't just stay on a feverish plateau as you have following an inspiring speech, you have to internalize it. You do this with discipline. You continue to use what you're motivated toward until it is a part of you. When that has happened, you get to a higher appreciation of what your goal is and then you give it to others. When they receive it and act on it, the originator receives feedback that re-energizes him as well. This cycle can continue as long as the cycle continues.

This latter part of motivation seems to be what Mr. Baldoni has captured very nicely. Motivation is almost like a skill, the more you use and refine it, the stronger it becomes.

This book is great because it gives examples of companies, people who run it and how it changed not only the success of the company, but why. This is how the bottom line (production and finances) meets the human side (how to communicate effectively with trust of your employees). It's a must read of how the United States will become a great leader in all aspects of business, education, and healthcare. We have just focused so much on the bottom line, that there is an imbalance on the worker's side. When we reach a balance, that's when the United States will become a leader in the global market.

As a manager at a bank where we all just went through a conversion that was "difficult", I was looking for something to help us bring our staff back to the present, while keeping them motivated. This book fits the bill. Haven't finished reading it yet, as we are discussing this as a group during our meetings, but I think it will be just what we need to motiviate us, to motivate our staff. The price was awesome as well. A good find.

This book highlights some very inspirational and relevant stories, however it is lacking in theoretical underpinnings. Some it felt like rhetoric. Leadership is such a complex domain that it really requires much more than these anecdotal recollections to gain traction in the field.
