Although the authors run out of ideas for activities and games long before young partygoers will run out of energy, parents will still find some good ideas here. What's more, where many children's party books focus on little ones, this one has a few party recommendations for preteens. The authors include a selection of 35 age-appropriate theme parties, ranging from a super hero party (ages four through six) that calls for a comic-book read-aloud, to a neighborhood scavenger hunt for older children. Party plans include tips on favors, food, and decorations, as well as ideas on what to do when the guests have arrived. I have used this book many times for each of my 3 kids' birthday parties. It is full of great games, clever invitations, and funny party ideas. Definitely a must-buy!

My mom is one of the authors. I have had a lot of the parties in the book (as have my brothers and the kids of the other 2 authors). I was just talking to a friend about my birthday parties when I was little, and quite frankly, they were awesome. This book is full of good ideas. I'm 22 now and I can't imagine trying to plan a kid's party from scratch.
So, from personal experience - these parties rock! (I think my name is on the 'jail' under the cowboy party!)
