Good as Gould, June 11, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Great Pianists 42 (Audio CD)
The notes with the CD liken Haebler to Gould: "both of them bring a 'plucking' technique to this traditional mechanism." The recordings are from well into the era of hi-fi, especially the solo works, so sound quality will not disappoint. Good as Gould? Maybe not at Bach, but certainly at Haydn, Mozart, Schubert and Schumann. And if you enjoy those composers, some of their most beautiful music is packed onto these modestly priced CDs. And the one Chopin waltz at the end? Well, it sounds like the way Glenn Gould might play it. As the liner notes say "treating them like Scarlatti...in spite of the risk of rejection by most of the Chopin fraternity". I really enjoy these CDs - just as much as the others that I have purchased from this series. (I give four stars in an effort to fight "star inflation").

Warm performances, September 5, 2000
This review is from: Great Pianists 42 (Audio CD)
Mrs. Haebler does a great job in this compilation record.
All perfomances are flawless and warm. I specially like the Piano concert in D form Haydn. Mozart seem to be very close to her heart.
Recording is not the best, but again, they are historical perofromances. I rather have this than perfect, heartless music
I recommend this CD without any reserve.
