Book Description

In 8 to Great: The Powerful Process for Positive Change, author MK Mueller presents 8 simple steps that the happiest, healthiest and most successful have in common. Each year, Mueller brings 8 to Great to Fortune 500 businesses, health care organizations, colleges, high schools, associations and community groups. In this book, she shares not only her inspirational insights and heart-hitting anecdotes, but those from over 1,000 8 to Great certified trainers and over 100,000 participants around the world.

Editorial Reviews

I met MK Mueller on a cruise I hosted in 2007. She was easy to recognize as somebody special. Kindness and enthusiasm shown from her eyes. Yet, admittedly, I didn't grasp the depth of MK's understandings, nor the passion of her conviction to change the world. Reading 8 to Great has changed everything. It's not just a powerful book from cover to cover, revealing the greatest secrets to thriving within time and space that have ever been shared, but its lessons are made easy. They're taught in plain English by the kind of teacher we need. Someone real. Someone who's learned by trial and error. Someone skilled at telling stories with a message and humor. She's turned ancient wisdom into modern day tools, conceiving of and framing each of her 8 High-Ways in one of the most original presentations I have ever read. I'm often asked what's going to rock the world, psychologically, next. What, after The Secret, that is. The answer is that people will be learning the truth about their absolute power and responsibility for living their lives consciously and deliberately. The concepts of victimhood, failure, lack and blame are about to be swept into extinction like the philosophical dinosaurs they are. People will soon be realizing for the first time in recorded history that we are all capable of living as richly and happily as we can imagine, and that nothing can rob us of our power to conceive of, believe in, and achieve whatever our heart desires (using MK's C-B-A formula). Whether this next wave of enlightenment will be sparked by a single book or a collection, I'm not sure, but I do know that 8 to Great will be a part of it. --Mike Dooley, as featured in The Secret, and author of Infinite Possibilities: The Art of Living Your Dreams

About the Author

Encouraged and inspired by her experience in a domestic violence shelter at the age of 34, MK Mueller began a support group in her home called, Taking Care of Me. Almost overnight, the group outgrew her living room and she became an international speaker and trainer. She combined the lessons from her personal ordeal, her workshops and her coaching clients into her first book, Taking Care of Me: The Habits of Happiness, and now her new book, 8 to Great: The Powerful Process for Positive Change. Today she has thousands of certified trainers around the world taking the 8 High-Ways of 8 to Great into workplaces, schools, rehab centers, and church groups. Meanwhile, Mueller has produced two original music CD's of her award-winning songs which she performs as part of her seminars and keynotes. She is the proud Mom of Joanna and Zach and is based in both Omaha, Nebraska, and Kansas City, Kansas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful & Inspiring August 9, 2012
I read 8 To Great: The Powerful Process for Positive Change for the first time a little over a year ago and believe me, my life has never been the same! The concepts and material presented by MK Mueller are simple and easily applicable to any person's life. Not only have I used the eight high - ways in my life, but I also have shared these with the students and athletes that I surround myself with throughout the year. Many lives have been changed for the good by just using the power pyramid and the FGH formula for positive attitude.
Thank you 8 To Great! Thank you MK for helping shift my life and the lives of many others across the United States! Now it's your turn! Your life will never be the same.

8 to Great: The Powerful Process for Positive Change

Readers familiar with Louise Hay (You Can Heal Your Life) will resonate with MK Mueller's book, 8 to Great. What I liked about this very accessible read was twofold: one, I was charged with the responsibility for defining my dream, and two, I was then provided a step by step process for working this into reality.

There is so much to read and reread in this book- from inspiring true stories to thoughtful challenges. It is esoteric without being obtuse. Once you read this book, you will want to attend one of her seminars, which I did! If you are the type of person who thinks the 'world of self-help' is rife with rhetoric and short on sincerity, MK Mueller and 8 to Great will change your mind! Check out [...].

5.0 out of 5 stars Like Winning the Lottery January 8, 2011
By swa843
If you're "sitting on the fence" wondering if this book is for you, I double dog dare you to make a move, step out of your comfort zone and devour it, as did I. Resist the urge to dismiss it because of the simplicity of it because it WORKS.

Attending one of her workshops, seminars, or meetup groups is the equivalent of winning the lottery and it is worth the drive no matter where you live.

I promise you will leave more energetic and inspired to master and live the process--because you owe it to yourself. I mean, really--what do you have to lose?

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful February 12, 2013

This book isn't just another self-help book you read and then put it on the shelf. This book speaks to the deepest part of you that you didn't even know was there. At one point I thought, this is great but it doesn't quite answer my problem. So I thought I will send M K an email and see if she can help me identity how to "fix" me. I composed an email in my mind and described me and my past and realized I already knew the answers I needed. I identified who I needed to forgive and why and how it would help "fix" me. M K solved my problem with an email she never even received.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book to improve your outlook on life! January 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As a Superintendent of schools, I am always looking for ways to help myself stay positive and looking for ways to help staff and students to do the same. This book hits it right on the mark. Some people are stuck in apathy and self pity and need help finding their direction in life. You can either be a "bucket dipper" or a "bucket filler" and this book helps people realize that this has always been and always will be a choice. No one else will help you change your outlook on life.

As a side note, after hearing the author speak to a group of superintendents for two hours, I had to have MK Mueller speak to our entire staff. Not just teachers, but the bus drivers, custodians, cooks, secretaries, and aides. We spent eight hours together and it was well worth every penny we spent. I have seen a change in many of the staff and seven people wanted to become trainers for our students. Now our students are being introduced to "the powerful process for positive change," and our school environment is seeing the benefit.

5.0 out of 5 stars 8 to Great: Improving personally and professionally August 5, 2012

I was introduced to Mary Kay Mueller's book Habit's of Happiness while struggling to recover from divorce. When I purchased that book, I also purchased 8 to Great. The concepts in this book have changed my life. Life often throws us challenges which are easy to blame others for and complain about but this book teaches concepts that help you to rise above the challenges of daily life; forgive those who we need to; live in gratitude each day and embrace hope for the future.

I have used these concepts not only to improve my own happiness but to help my teenage son develop more confidence and improve his grades in school. These concepts are also useful in the business world. I have used them with my sales team; to promote safety among front line employees; and to make myself a better leader in the workplace.

I highly recommend 8 to Great. MK Mueller makes these concepts easy to grasp and easy to implement!

3.0 out of 5 stars A decent book poorly presented January 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Based purely on the content, this a solid 4/5 self-help book. It provides a lot of practical advice regarding how to be happier and lead a more positive and successful life. There are numerous relevant examples, which help keep the reader's interest. The book itself is not particularly long, and neither is any individual section, making reading it a breeze. It is a helpful addition to the existing literature.

The presentation and layout, however, leave much to be desired. Throughout the entire kindle version are missing letters and words - a few sentences are incomprehensible due to this. It doesn't detract from the message of the book but it is a bit distracting at times. Could easily be fixed by a couple of hours of proofreading and editing.
