This flour is the most expensive flour that I have ever seen. It is also the best quality flour that I have ever purchased. Breads and pizza come out much better than other bread flours that I have used. It is good for you and has no additives. It is worth the cost.

This is an excellent price on a must have item. This is my third time ordering in the last six months. You get 4 bags of flour at five pounds each. They recommend refrigerating after opening so I like that it is small bags and I just refrigerate one at at time (in an airtight container). I've checked around for lower prices on organic flour (bread or otherwise) and it can't be found. I use this every week to make bread. I do add extra gluten. Theoretically you don't need to with whole wheat bread flour but I find it rises better if I do. I bought gluten here on Amazon as well. I think it was 6 or 8 boxes. I'm still using it a year later so it was definitely worth the money.

I really like Great River. I recently bought their oraganic all purpose whole wheat flour. I also love their seven grain bread flour. I add about a cup of that to every bread and roll and hamburger bun recipe. Gives a nice little texture and taste. Great River is the only flour I've used in the last year and I make everything from scratch so I've really had the opportunity to test it out.

Unlike most whole wheat flours that do not bake well, this one does and most recopies using all-purpose white flour will work. This is a really high quality product. It makes home-made bread even better, and healthier. it is very expensive though, but in the end it is comparable to factory-made-bread in cost with superior flavor and nutrition.

I was given a used bread machine this year, and really got into baking my own breads. After trying several recipes using regular all-purpose flour, and generic store bought bread flour, I decided to try experimenting with good whole wheat flour. This flour is great tasting in bread and pizza crusts, I have used 3.5 lbs of it so far, over the past 4 months, so it will be time to reorder soon. It is definitely cheaper, healthier and more delicious than buying store bought bread.

As it is a 100% whole wheat flour, it is a little trickier to bake with than white flour, and a couple of my first loaves came out flat and dense (but still tasted great). With a tiny bit of dehydrated milk powder or wheat gluten added to the dough, the bread turned out perfectly. And pizza crust is sooo good with this flour, and very easy to make. I have been eating great homemade pizza all the time.

So glad I can eat delicious, healthy organic homemade bread every week!

I have been trying to convert to more organic products but price is often a sore spot in my quest. This flour is pricey but it makes great organic bread and rolls at half the cost of buying organic rolls/bread. I use it to make bread, hamburger/hotdog buns and dinner rolls. I add some extra vital wheat gluten to make things a little lighter and fluffier since I use exclusively wheat flour. My family really enjoys the finished products. I have it one subscribe and save now which makes it less costly and now I no longer have to buy organic bread products at the supermarket.

I've been keeping this as a staple in my pantry for about a year now, and it's the best flour I've ever used. Not only does this make for delicious baked goods, but I've found that I have more energy and feel better when I'm eating bread made from it. I frequently substitute this flour into recipes that call for white flour; it works quite well if you add a little extra moisture or use half whole wheat, half white flour.

If you're new to baking with whole wheat, please do keep in mind that it's not as stable as the standard all-purpose you may have grown up with. Keep it in an airtight container, and plan on using it up within a month or two after opening, so that the flour won't become bitter. You may want to keep it in the refrigerator, especially in summer. If you still have some around after a couple months, taste it before using; as I understand it, it's still safe to use if it's a little bitter, but you'll want to adjust the sweetener in your recipe accordingly, and eventually it does get to a point where no amount of sweetener can make it palatable.

I make homemade sour dough bread every weekend. This Whole Wheat Bread Flour is great for this purpose. With other Whole Wheat Bread Flour, my bread did not rise. With this flour from Great River Organic Milling, my bread does a great job of rising. Sour dough takes much longer to rise than yeast and this flour is great. The Great River Organic Milling 100% organic Bread Whole Wheat Flour was purchased from Amazon.

Ordered multiple packs of different kinds of flour. 2 of the 3 I ordered arrived the very next day. Packaging was clean and no rips. Transferred flour to airtight containers and stored in the cool cellar. (Flour is in the double layered paper bags you see in picture.) Made a few batches of bread, and they were very good.
