Book Description

March 1999
Sammy Rivera is having apocalyptic dreams of the new millennium. As 1999 comes to an end, world events support his visions. Religious concerns, social upheaval and racial tensions are compounded by the Y2K/Millennium Bug dilemma which upends the nation's banking and transportation systems. Sammy, his girlfriend, and acquaintences, flee a rioting city. He is later faced with the threat of a terrorist act near his home.

Meanwhile, Jeffrey West, a programmer, has deserted the city, taking his family to a wooded, survivalist community; a new religion sprouts up in the desert; a zealous computer mogel has designed the new breed of information systems; the rich go on a Caribbean cruise; and, immigrants suffer the bias of American politics.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

The Great Seventh Number explains, in simple terms, the true dilemma America faces with the advent of the Y2K/Millennium Bug computer crisis. It contains an accurate depiction of the problem and thoughtful consideration of the matter. The Great Seventh Number is also entertaining for those who realize that survival requires more than just technical savvy. The tale goes through and beyond the general tenets of today's "X-Files" mentality as it explores American culture and politics.

From the Back Cover

Explore the world of Sammy Rivera, a young man haunted by apocalyptic visions, and feel the strain on his girlfriend, Liliana, who yearns to marry him. Prepare yourself for Y2K, like Jeffrey West, who moved his family out of the city, or thumb your nose at Y2K and spend New Year's Eve aboard the elite New Horizon cruise. Enter the circle of a new religion sprouting up in the desert, or suffer with the next wave of immigrants who struggle to survive. Watch the manipulation of the global banking and information industries by those who wish to control it for the next thousand years, and ride with the terrorists who would destroy them all.
