Into Elgart?,

If you know the orch., and don't have this one, buy it! In point of fact, buy all of their CD's that are out. You'll kick yourself if you don't and they go out of print! The Elgart discs and the Sauter-Finnigan group are a must have for anyone who appreciates big bands and fine arranging. Aloha

I will admit the Les Elgart band was known for Bandstand Boogie, the theme song for American Bandstand for many years. He showcases more of his wonderful work with It's DeLovely, Scotch Hop, and my favorite "I Concentrate On You". You can't go wrong with a collection like this!!!

A "De-lovely" Twofer,
By David F. Donahue "Old BariSax-playing Geezer" (Buffalo, Wyoming, USA) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Great Sound of Les Elgart / It's Delovely (Audio CD)
Both of these albums have been among my favorites. Noted songs are "Cherokee", "When I Take My Sugar To Tea", It's De-loveley","Off Shore", "Scotch Hop", and "I Concentrate On You". If you like the Elgart touch to music, you need this twofer.

Good, but Larry's Gone,
By Bop Man (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Great Sound of Les Elgart / It's Delovely (Audio CD)
The Elgarts didn't always get along. From 1952 to 1956 it was the "Les Elgart Orch." During 1957-58 it was "Les and Larry Elgart". From 1959 to 1962 they both had separate bands. From 1963 into the 1970s it was "Les and Larry Elgart" once again. After that, they separated for good. Although Larry Elgart is not present on these recordings, the band still sounds good. The Sax section does sound much different, however. Also, the haunting melodies that Larry liked to play solo are gone. Les returns to his standard style, and he did quite well without his brother. However, Larry is missed.
