Not as great as the previous, but I read it., August 10, 2010
This review is from: Great and Terrible:From the End of Heaven (Hardcover)
This series is great. This book, From the End of Heaven, was good, but not as good as the previous books, and could have been written better. I can tell that the author had to flesh out the book so that it had the required number of pages, so I had to skip past long-winded, annoying passages.
I am curious about the evil old man in these books. He is obviously Satan. I assume that he has possessed some old hapless wretch and controls him.
This book seems to be spot on as far as miracles in the last days. People will be afraid of the inhabitants of Zion because of the power of God that they use to protect themselves. I have seen it happen.
Something not realistic: Not trying to protect yourself. Sarah the mother, does not want her sons to shoot the mob that is armed and trying to kill them. "That's not us." Give me a break. And the sons are always firing warning shots, or shooting the hand of someone who is in the middle of murdering someone.
It is a stressful book to read, with all the killing and zombie mobs. I was glad it was over.

Could have been better, December 29, 2008
This review is from: Great and Terrible:From the End of Heaven (Hardcover)
This is by far the weakest book in the series. The characters have little to do and no where to go. The plot feels like 50 pages stretched out fill a 300 page book. I look forward to his next book and hope he does a better job telling an actual story rather than spending so much time setting up his next book.

Good...But not as good as previous books., June 21, 2008
This review is from: Great and Terrible:From the End of Heaven (Hardcover)
The latest installment of The Great and the Terrible was good but it just wasn't as good as previous installments. It didn't move the plot along very far and just didn't quite have the big bang suspense of the other books. I am hoping for more from the next book.
