4.0 out of 5 stars Good...But not as good as previous books.
The latest installment of The Great and the Terrible was good but it just wasn't as good as previous installments. It didn't move the plot along very far and just didn't quite have the big bang suspense of the other books. I am hoping for more from the next book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as great as the previous, but I read it.
This series is great. This book, From the End of Heaven, was good, but not as good as the previous books, and could have been written better. I can tell that the author had to flesh out the book so that it had the required number of pages, so I had to skip past long-winded, annoying passages.

This series is great. This book, From the End of Heaven, was good, but not as good as the previous books, and could have been written better. I can tell that the author had to flesh out the book so that it had the required number of pages, so I had to skip past long-winded, annoying passages.

I am curious about the evil old man in these books. He is obviously Satan. I assume that he has possessed some old hapless wretch and controls him.

This book seems to be spot on as far as miracles in the last days. People will be afraid of the inhabitants of Zion because of the power of God that they use to protect themselves. I have seen it happen.

Something not realistic: Not trying to protect yourself. Sarah the mother, does not want her sons to shoot the mob that is armed and trying to kill them. "That's not us." Give me a break. And the sons are always firing warning shots, or shooting the hand of someone who is in the middle of murdering someone.

It is a stressful book to read, with all the killing and zombie mobs. I was glad it was over.

2.0 out of 5 stars Could have been better, December 29, 2008

This is by far the weakest book in the series. The characters have little to do and no where to go. The plot feels like 50 pages stretched out fill a 300 page book. I look forward to his next book and hope he does a better job telling an actual story rather than spending so much time setting up his next book.

This book continues the legacy of Chris Stewart created with "The Great and The Terrible." His writing style is such that the reader feels he is in the moment of the story - leaves you waiting for the next installment!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Thus Far of Last Days Thrillers!!!!, March 30, 2009

The Great and Terrible Vol 5: From The End Of Heaven by Chris Stewart

This Volume is just as mesmerizing as the previous book, but since this one was a Whitney finalist this year, I'd say it's a tad better. We see The Brighton's, Mary, her young, cancer-ridden daughter Kelly Beth and Azadeh keeping one step ahead of the enemy. Bono is attempting to reach his wife and daughter in Memphis, while Sam tries to find his family near Chicago. The never-ending battle between Good and Evil keeps you reading far into the night. This is the best last days series I've ever read, so do yourselves a favor and run to your nearest bookstore, library or amazon to get a copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, October 6, 2008
This review is from: Great and Terrible:From the End of Heaven (Hardcover)
Suspenseful is an understatement when it comes to this series from Chris Stewart. His characters are so realistic that it takes very little for the reader to be drawn in. Beware that this book will leave you hanging in anticipation of the next book! It also is a little frustrating since this is not the conclusion of the story the reader is left hungry for closure on some issues.
