The New Testament is sometimes called the New Covenant, signifying a new relationship between humanity and God. From the viewpoint of salvation history, the New Testament is the completion and the culmination of the Old Testament. In terms of length, it is only a small portion of the entire Bible, and yet it is that portion which brings it all together. Richard Rohr and Joseph Martos look at the many ways salvation themes are proclaimed by the various authors and literary styles of the New Testament.

About the Author
Franciscan priest Richard Rohr is founding director of the Center for Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He considers the proclamation of the gospel to be his primary call, and the related themes he addresses include eco-spirituality, Scripture as liberation, non-dual thought, the integration of action and contemplation, peace and justice issues, and male spirituality. Author of numerous books, including Things Hidden: Scripture as Spirituality and Preparing for Christmas With Richard Rohr: Daily Meditations for Advent, he gives retreats and lectures internationally. He is a regular contributing writer for Sojourners and Tikkun magazines.
Joseph Martos, retired professor of philosophy, theology and religious studies, has written eight books, four with Richard Rohr. A recognized expert on the sacraments and spirituality, he has lectured widely, including in Canada, Australia and Europe.

Great for beginning bible study,

I picked up this book a few years ago. I found it a wonderful way to read and study the Bible. I read along with my Bible and Rohr's easy to understand and engaging commentary. I reccommend this to beginners to Bible study and for a refreshing new look at the Bible

A Mind and Heart Opening View Of The Bible,

Fr. Richard Rohr, OFM, is one of the greatest teachers of Christianit y in America today. His style is easy to read, entertaining, and, most of all, thought-provoking. He offers a look at the bible that goes deeper and beyond the shallow waters that most Christians wade in. As a Protestant, I find that his views are eminently helpful to me as they are to Roman Catholics. This book could also be effectively used for bible study at any non-fundalmentalist church.
