This is a fabulous CD. If you like to dance the waltz, this collection provides a great variety of styles. At once you find yourself in eighteenth century Vienna twirling around a grand ballroom. Then suddenly you are transported to nineteenth century America to enjoy a haunting sound reminiscent of the Civil War era. This is a world tour of waltzes. Each tune has its own unique appeal. My husband and I enjoy dancing to this music in our living room, amidst the glow of moonlight, candlelight and a heartfelt embrace. If you are a romantic, or a lover of grand dance music, this CD will be an uplifting, gratifying experience. It is seductive, yet pure and truthful. Bob Childs has crafted the instruments with his heart and soul, and connected a group of talented musicians to create this collection of beautiful music. Sunday River is our favorite. What's yours?

For many of us the waltz is a favorite tune yet a hard one to find in publically performed music by dance bands, etc. Next time you are at a wedding, office party, etc, ask the band to play a waltz and you are likely to be disappointed but yet another foxtrot or lord knows what else. This recording, by performers using the instruments made by one of todays foremost makers, Bob Childs of Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, should go a long way to bring waltzes back to the attention of and onto the repertory of the dance bands of at least the USA. Listen to it whenever you want to feel good.

At the Atlanta Waltz Society's "Third Sunday Waltzing" Dance, we have found that Childsplay's "Great Waltz" CD is excellent for general waltzing with its wide range of rhythms and musical coloration. We often let the CD play its full length for dancers of all levels. I highly recommend it for both listening and dancing. Sid Hetzler, president, Atlanta Waltz Society ...
