Excellent material for History teachers!,

This CD provides students an opportunity to hear the music that was sung by the fighting men of World War I. Some of the music shows the use of propaganda during that conflict. Kids love to hear different types of music, even when its 80 years old:).

Really wonderful selection of World War I music, actual recordings, readings, and artists from the period of the Great War. English oriented. Many favorite classics performed here. Wonderful research item. Great buy!

I am a middle school history teacher and I like to include primary sources when I can. The music adds to the teaching of WW1.

These are original recordings that those who fought in the war would hear, so expect scratchy and low grade audio quality, but they are the true pieces of music. You can feel the exhilaration, optimism and, eventually, weariness of the home front. You can feel the despair of the soldiers. It is an eery CD to hear because there are also original recordings directly from the battlefield and from reports of returning combatants.
This is a musical (and eyewitness) documentary of World War I. |
