Editorial Reviews

Review

. . .Most of the recipes are uncomplicated, and some have as few as five or six ingredients. The chefs provide inspiration as well as helpful tips. -- Syracuse Herald Journal

A fabulous new cookbook serves up recipes by the women on the cutting edge. . .of American restaurant artistry.

Lavishly and luciously produced, with full-color photos throughout. Each of 30 great women chefs presents one full menu, complete with suggested wines. I find great comfort in having a menu organized for me--insecurity, laziness, who knows. I don't always follow them, but just knowing how a professional contrasts flavors and textures is fascinating and fun. . . great to cook from, to look at, and just to read. -- Book Page

Both feminists and restaurant buffs will find much to their liking in this large-format cookbook. As Alice Waters points out in the introduction, it is only fairly recently that women have been allowed to take charge in restaurant kitchens.

In these pages, you can take a tantalizing culinary journey around the country, stopping to 'dine' at 30 restaurants where females wear the top toque. Hear their stories and learn to re-create their signature dishes. -- New York Daily News

This book is truly a celebration, scoffing at the glass ceiling many say exists in the kitchens of America's greatest restaurants. Laurie E. Holloway/Staff -- Nashville, TN Tennessean Jan. 3, 2000

[This book] showcases the talents of 30 distinguished female chefs [with] a profile on each one and a menu from starters to desserts. --Central Coast Adventures Winter 2000 --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

A talented, young chef who has worked in my home preparing meals for dinner parties for our friends shared her copy with me. I kept it for for two months and read it from cover to cover! The profiles on the chefs were interesting and inspirational. The recipes are uncomplicated. I have prepared several recipes and each turned out delicious and almost looked like the photo in the book! I am ordering the cookbook today...you should too.
