I am an award-winning freelance writer and author. I've penned offbeat features and profiles of people and places for websites and publications such as American Profile, Family Circle, Go, Ladies' Home Journal, and The Washington Post. Since 2005, I've also written/edited books for children and adults.

My new children's picture book (You Think It's Easy Being the Tooth Fairy?) was published in August 2007 and reprinted in March 2008. It has sold about 12,000 copies so far.

Humorously illustrated by David Slonim (www.davidslonim.com), my big-attitude tooth fairy shows just what she has to go through to nab each tooth!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for home educators and teachers!, July 24, 2006
This review is from: Great World War II Projects You Can Build Yourself (Build It Yourself series) (Paperback)
Goodbye, long boring lessons about World War II! In this book, kids will find valuable information about America's participation in World War II, presented in a format that is easy to understand. Better yet, kids can delve into projects that will bring the era to life as they create secret codes for passing messages, airplane models, ration cakes and learn how to prepare a care package for a soldier fighting our current war.

This book tells many of the interesting stories of the war - kids will learn about Navajo code talkers, the African Americans known as the Tuskegee airmen and women at home and in the danger zone. My kids will get much use from these pages!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun way to teach your kids history, July 17, 2006
This review is from: Great World War II Projects You Can Build Yourself (Build It Yourself series) (Paperback)
My nine-year-old loves this book, because he gets to make fun projects while finally understanding why his grandfather loves to watch old WWII movies.

It's the perfect pick-me-up for a rainy day, a big plus for the budding history buff and fun for Mom and Dad, too. Buy one with a few project supplies for a unique birthday gift.
