Richard Jeni is one of the funniest comedians you will ever hear and this CD has a nice collection of his bits. He can be quite crude but also very smart. His mastery of words is on par with George Carlin. Favorite parts on this CD would be "Women Smoke Cigars?", "Fred Robster", "Women: They Came from a Drying Planet" and "Cooking with Bill".

Richard Jeni's Greatest Hits is a marvelous final act to the first stage of Jeni's stand-up life. Here, he brings 10 years worth of his best material to bear, with pointed observations about men, women and life in general. Make sure you skip right to "Fred Robster", "Colonel Saunders", "Bill the Belching Gourmet" along with "Moisture". But, as always with Jeni, you'll have your own favorites you'll want to hear over and over. Jeni has a genius for observing life, then helping us look at it with a New Yorker's slant and flair. Sure, if you've seen Jeni you've heard these bits before. Yet, listening to them again doesn't dull them---they instead remain fresh, vital and leave you convulsed with laughter every time. This seems like a fitting place for Jeni to retire these bits from his act, and move onto more fertile ground. And "Greatest Hits" will be a CD you'll cherish, along with others that have become classics over the years. Bill Cosby's "Wonderfulness" and "To Russell My Brother Whom I Slept With," or George Carlin's "AM/FM" and "Class Clown" immediately come to mind. "Greatest Hits" is the material that's given Jeni such a loyal following, and is why he is established as one of America's truly brilliant stand-up comedy minds.

I was very surprised, This CD was GREAT!! Wow, it had everyone at work ON THE FLOOR!! I like the "Belching Gourmet". Timing along with a wide spectrum of topics, make his one of the Funniest Comics out today! BRAVO!!

Missing in particular is the Jaws 4 routine and a few notable others but still a very solid stand up. Richard Jeni is a better stand up than Jerry Seinfeld will ever be but Jerry had a hit show and Richard's, well, sunk. Hopefully a greatest bits 2 will come out as Jeni has a large amount of material unlike many other standup comics. Also, one reviewer may have laughed for 70 minutes but this album is only about 45 minutes or so long. Still, a must have for Jeni fans.

Richard Jeni was one of the funniest guys i've ever heard. Without foul language and swearing (a couple of 4-letter words is in there allright) he really gives you a new perspective on some matters in life. the "Yest infection" piece is really good to listen to and especially the "exploding scrotum syndrom" bit. He is deeply missed by a lot of people all over. R.I.P. Mr. Jeni wherever you are

... because this is NOT a compilation collection like Chris Rock's "Greatest Bits".. it's a complete show, but it has its title due to the fact that each of the 22 tracks were hand-picked by Jeni himself, which he previously did for t.v. specials and many, many other live stand-up shows. He picked the bits that got the most laughs, and put them all together to make one helluva show. Now if only ALL stand-up comics did that for their CDs...


It's a hilarious CD. If you're a fan of Richard's, or just a fan of comedy in general, and like stuff that's vulgar enough to be on par with Carlin, but not insanely raunchy like Andrew "Dice" Clay, then this album's for you.

I had the honor of meeting and getting my picture taken with Mr. Jeni just months before he took his own life. It's a shame that continues to sadden me, because he really was, and still IS, one of the greats. We miss you, Rich.

I love this CD. It's just plain hilarious. Richard Jeni at his best.

I saw the HBO special when it aired in 1996. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life. I reccomend this CD highly. The "Love Songs" bit he does is hysterical--I laughed my way into getting a "6-pack" from constant laughter...Ha, I'm laughing right now as I recall it--GREAT !!!

I love Richard Jeni's performances- insightful, intelligent, and with surprising observations of daily life. I only wish my CD had Jaws4 on it. It may be colored by my memory - but it has to be one of the best jokes. Wish I could find it.

This is one of the funniest CD's I have ever heard. It just gets better and better everytime I listen. By the way, I'm not sure the last reviewer was listening to the same CD, but the one I have is over 74 minutes and DOES include the priceless JAWS 4 bit.
