And the 61st greatest conspiracy..., November 12, 2008
This review is from: 60 Greatest Conspiracies Of All Time - History's Biggest Mysteries, Cover-ups, And Cabals (Hardcover)
...is this book.
Obviously, a book that delves into the world of intrigue and conspiracy tends to be under-documented (as is the case here.) This is to be expected. What piqued my interest in reading this book is the mystery surrounding some of the events in our country's history. The authors do an excellent job of providing a synopsis of theories surrounding events such as the assassination of RFK and MLK and many other evetns.
However, the problem I have with the book is in how the purported conspiracies are portrayed. It's somewhat peculiar that every time a conspiracy conerned a Republican, that the Republican was to blame--even going so far as to portray many of them as evil (sarcasm? Perhaps, but the authors' wry senses of humor are very easy to spot. Therefore, I am inclined to believe that their own bias shows through.) Yet whenever a conspiracy concerned a Democrat, it was not the Democrat who was complicit. No! Instead, it was the evil GOP who actually committed the crime and then blamed the Democrats in a disinformation campaign!
So... this book is useful bedtime reading, but otherwise... eh.

Superficial fluff, April 30, 2009
This review is from: 60 Greatest Conspiracies Of All Time - History's Biggest Mysteries, Cover-ups, And Cabals (Hardcover)
1.5 stars. A very superficial treatment of the issues, good for little more than amusement. Plus, many of these "conspiracies" are pretty well-known (not that you would know that from this book). There's certainly nothing new or original offered here.
I want my $2.00 back...
Not recommended.
