4.0 out of 5 stars For every "bad" choice there is a good choice, February 17, 2005
This review is from: Greatest Dance Mixes (Audio CD)
The reason I give this CD four stars instead of five is for the same reason brought up by another reviewer: the mixes of "Come Go With Me" and "I Specialize in Love" are the exact same remixes that appear on Expose's "Greatest Hits" CD. Don't get me wrong, these are great remixes, and considering the title of this album is "Expose's Greatest Dance Mixes" they belong here. But yes, the original extended mix of "Come Go With Me" would have been nice to have here, as well as one of the original (1987) remixes of "Point of No Return"- but these at least DO appear in the (very good) megamix that closes the album.

However, each bad choice is balanced out by a good choice. By 1989, 12" singles were being issued with numerous remixes (and always the obligatory house mix), so there were several different versions of "What You Don't Know" and "Tell Me Why" that Thump/Arista could have put on here; thankfully they chose the house mixes, which are excellent. These two mixes alone are worth the price of the CD. I also wasn't thrilled to get the "Suave" mix of "When I Looked at Him," as this is available on the "What You Don't Know" album (as a bonus track). On the other hand, it was a good choice to include the extended version of "Seasons Change"- it is a good example of one of the late 1980's ballads released as a 12-inch (other examples include Debbie Gibson's "Foolish Beat" and Madonna's "Live to Tell").

As for the rest of the album, they are your typical 80's extended versions, which is fine by me! The inclusion of the extended version of "Exposed to Love" is especially of value here, it's not one of the easier 12-inches to find.

I recommend this album as a good collection of the dance music Expose put out. For the casual fan, "Greatest Hits" is a better buy- but for the true Expose fan, this is a must-have. While there may be some omissions and tracks that are available elsewhere, these problems are definitely outweighed by the great mixes here. This album shows that Expose was able to put out good dance music in the late 1980s and early 1990s, be it freestyle or house.

This is a great remix cd from the talented ladies we know as Expose'! What I find really neat is this compliation has the original version of "Point Of No Return"! Hearing these remixes in cd quality sound is also really nice as well! I recommend this cd if you don't have the remixes already and also if you want great quality sound too!

4.0 out of 5 stars Dance Dance Dance..., May 22, 2002
This review is from: Greatest Dance Mixes (Audio CD)
I don't want to put anybody off buying this CD because it's a great thing Thump/Arista have done releasing the 12" versions on CD. IM just a little upset that some things were left out or they used the wrong versions on the CD. I think along with the version on the CD of Point Of No Return sang by Ale', Lori Miller & Sande' they should have included the second version sang by Ann, Gioa & Janette because this was the bigger hit version. Also they should have included Stop, Listen, Look & Think as there was a 12" remix to that also (Dj Promo). As for the 12" mix on this CD of Come Go With Me... What were They thinking? If I remember right Expose' were a Freestyle group and the bigger version was the Extended Club mix. Oh well you win some and you loose some... But over all I will say this is a winner... I just hope next time they get it 100% right!
