I was really looking forward to reading this book. But I must say I am disappointed. I believe the author's premise that extraterrestrials likely play a significant role in religious history. I have been a student of the UFO phenomenon for nearly forty years. I also have a graduate degree in biblical and religious studies. So I feel that I am qualified to say that poor scholarship compromises this book's credibility. This work is a collection of information from various sources that the author has interpreted to support his pre-conceived thesis. There is not much in the way of new or original information here. Documentation of source material is lacking for the numerous quotations and case studies cited in this book. This book is filled with inexcusable grammatical and typographical anomalies. The entire first quarter of this book is a tedious list of King James Bible verses quoted out of context. The author used Strong's Concordance to reference certain key words that he thinks are references to UFOs. These verses may or may not refer to UFOs, depending on how you interpret words like "heaven" and "cloud." The veracity of some of the author's case studies regarding anomalous artifacts is questionable according to other works in this genre. What really blew my mind was an entire page devoted to the author's argument that Jesus Christ had short hair and no beard! What does that have to do with UFOs and the history of religion? While there is some "wheat" to be found in this book, I must say that most of it is "chaff." Your money would be better spent on Linda Moulton Howe's "High Strangeness, vol. II."

5.0 out of 5 stars A Rare Find For A One Stop Reference Book, March 25, 2002
By
I was most impressed when I finally had gotten "The Greatest Deception - The Bible UFO Connection in, with over 450 some pages of references and information. The reader will soon be lost for words as they search through this most brilliantly written voyage through the ages of time...

You will find many references to the Bible broken down..
Yhovah Whirlwinds, Glowing Object Passes over, The Burning Bush, Wheels Ascended, Synchronized Accession, Voices In The Sky, Dark and Shiny Objects, Spinning Objects, The Immortals, Technology Of The GODS, Technology of Life and the list will go on and on. But "The Greatest Deception - The Bible UFO Connection" does not just cover the BIBLE it touches on much more to bring to light the evidence that has been know for millenniums, but have been pushed around..never to be heard from again.

"The Greatest Deception - The Bible UFO Connection" is a much valuable source for the readers of academe who wish to take on the challenges posed by the UFO phenomenon and not be afraid to voice their opinion

Learn of the infamous Crop Circles, the Mighty wonders of the world and the great misconceptions of the common Bible. Learn about the Churches and their FEARS.

You will also learn of the feats about, Human Anomalies such as the massive giants that walked with us. The Ancient technology and what we have lost through the years. Special Talents, Effects and People will amaze you..also touching on the Cattle Mutilations and embedded artifacts, along with the crop art and Agriglyphs..

I applaud the goal of the writer (Patrick Cooke) for putting together this most interesting, serious and impressive book. I'm sure that both the scientific and religion aspect will remain controversial and maybe one day we will answer the Who? What? Where? and Why? questions...

5.0 out of 5 stars Truth, clarity and understanding., May 21, 2002
By
The idea that extraterrestrials were the "gods" of ancient religious and mythological texts is not new. Even before the hugely popular books by Von Daniken, authors like Brinsley Le Poer Trench were mining the same vein in 'The Sky People', and more recently have been works like 'The Many Waters'by Lauretta Lueck and the revelatory 'The Yahweh Encounters'by Ann Madden Jones. With the publication of 'The Greatest Deception', author Patrick Cooke provides what may arguably be the capstone to this series of intellectual inquiries. While resisting the tendency of others to offer subjective interpretation, he lets the facts make the compelling case for the true meaning of Biblical writings: that mankind (and the planet's biosphere) are the products of technologically advanced beings, and that organized religion has purposely been deceiving humanity from the outset regarding this truth, and what it portends for the future.

The book is divided into four main sections. In the first section (The Bible Connection), the author painstakingly documents passages from the Bible (King James version), with attribution, to show conclusively that these were efforts to depict high technology by writers in a "primitive and no-tech time." He offers specific, Biblical language to demonstrate descriptions of vehicles, flight, technology of the Gods, technology of life and the Immortals (super beings). A typical example (of flight): Zechariah 5:1 "Then I turned, and lifted mine eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll. 2. And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth ten cubits."

In the second section (The Historical Connection), the author presents a chronological summary of high-tech craft (UFOs) throughout history, UFO quotations from prominent people and various UFO-related military and scientific projects.

Part three (The World Connection) includes fascinating accounts of terrestrial anomalies, anomalous constructions, human anomalies and the world's gods. The cumulative effect of this section is to nail the coffin shut on the specious, illogical "explanations" perpetrated by mainstream science, academia and governments. The fallacy of evolution is rendered particulary bankrupt of legitimacy.

The fourth and final section (Bible Misconceptions) unmasks the purposeful deception by organized religion regarding the true meaning of scripture, and the lessons imparted to man by the Elohiym and their leader, Yhovah (God)and the reasons for the deception. The reasons, of course, are "greed and lust for power."
What, then, is the "greatest deception?" That UFOs and 'aliens' are the modern-day manifestations of Satan. As Mr. Cooke accurately notes, "The religious community as a whole has one generic approach to the current debate over the UFO phenomenon; it is Satan's deception..." (for a veritable textbook example of this perversion, read 'Alien Encounters' by Missler and Eastman)
No, UFOs are not Satan's minions. They may well be, however, the signs of Jesus' return, as prophesied in the Bible. "The only admonition to watch the skies for anything is the declaration that that is where the returning Christ will first appear."

This book provides an invaluable tool to assist critically thinking people to unchain themselves from the self-promoting, cynical and manipulative deceptions foisted upon humankind by the religious dogmatists. Kudos to Mr. Cooke.

4.0 out of 5 stars New Outlook On Old Subject, October 1, 2007
This review is from: The Greatest Deception: The Bible UFO Connection (Paperback)
This book has some typos, and there is some redundancy. Fortunately, the content is fresh. The author has done extensive research and backs it up with plenty of references. Patrick Cooke definitely has some insight into biblical connections to the UFO phenomena that is worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars UFO's helped me physically understand God, November 6, 2011
This review is from: The Greatest Deception: The Bible UFO Connection (Paperback)
Thank God for bringing this book to me. God could have chosen any number of ways to reach me, but he chose this book. It was just the start of my journey to know God's word. But, the start is an important part. For someone who has no spiritual understanding, things that people would be able to see with their eyes, like UFO's and technology, are an important part of coming to learn the rest of the story.

Now that I have come to accept Christ as my lord and personal savior, and have delved into the bible, there are things that I see differently from the author. Some aspects of it could have been written with more detail.

I did not find the book to be hostile to Christianity. He may disagree with some religious practices, but bible verses support his disagreements. For the non-Christian can reader, it is good to distinguish between Christian practices and the way of the heathen.

any one who claims to know the word of God, but denies the deity of Christ, or claim that his dying for us was useless, and so on, and claims that "we really don't need Jesus, he was nothing special" is denying the Bible which is the word of God. There are no "special lost books" or "secret codes" sure there are! But, alas, it does not come from God, Christ Jesus. Angels don't probe people, abuse them, or come as ugly horrific creatures. They don't mutilate cattle, either. Good=good, Evil=Evil. There are no UFOs. There ARE things underground, however, and make friends with guys who believe stuff like "Men who stare at Goats" even our own church is buying this crap, and disguising it as the Word of God. It's woo woo, and its' demonic.

With God in Christ Jesus, who came to earth as a human being (not an alien) and died for us on the cross, and rose again, and with his blood we are washed of sin through Him alone.

The author of this book also has a yahoogroup where he is clearly a disturbed individual with a hatred of the church and shows complete rudeness to anyone who respectfully questions his views. He also belittles them and since he decides what gets posted your response will not get through. I've read both of his books and find them filled with personal opinions and distortions of the truth. In his world it is against God to pray in front of anyone. In other words all the churches in the world are sinning because they allow prayer. He also claims that there is no Hell.
But the true nature of this individual is his outright anger towards the church and anyone who questions his conclusions or dares refer to his conclusions as interpretations or opinions. What I am trying to say is that this is not a nice individual writing these books and is actually quite hostile. It comes through in his books too. They are really distorted versions of scripture and you will find yourself reading it and saying to yourself "wait a minute, how can he ignore all of these scriptures which go against what he is claiming". in other words he finds one scripture that backs up his claims and ignores all of those that disagree with his claims.
I found myself looking into a lot of his claims and finding that he is only providing half truths, of course its the half that agrees with his views and he ignores the half that goes against his views. so in the end you have no idea if what he is saying is true or not. so it's useless.
If of course you disagree with him you are obviously brainwashed by the church and have been decieved by Satan.
And no matter what the topic he is exploring he always brings it back to the church. The only reason why he is writing these books is to say "and thats why the Church and its followers are decieved!" And it's not needed. Some of his assertions are interesting until once again he has to bring it back to the church and how modern churches are satans tools. no matter what the subject. I get the feeling that if you were to talk to this guy about any topic, painting a house for example, that he would within five minutes be explaining to you how the modern church has used house painting to decieve mankind and Satan is behind it.
To be honest, there is almost a sense of deception in his writing. You get the feeling that maybe he has an agenda in distorting the Bible so thoroughly. Either way i would save my time and money because this book is not one of research but is one mans quest to get back at the Christian churches that i suspect did him wrong somehow in the past. This is Patrick Cookes revenge.
