A Kid's Review
This review is from: Greatest Discoveries With Bill Nye: Biology (DVD)
Hi! It's me, the homeschooled StoryMaker. I just finished watching the "Greatest Discoveries with Bill Nye: Biology" DVD. My Mom got it from the library for me because I was studying cells. Just like the Discovery book my Mom got from the library, Cells (Discovery Channel School Science), it is heavy in information. Bill Nye and other scientists explain different discoveries, processes and organisms that enrich the study of biology. Its focus seems to be microbiology, which is fine because I was studying cells anyway. They have video clips of many of the different things, too. A lot of fascinating information is covered in 45 minutes. Though I am a homeschooler and just watched this at home, I imagine it would also work quite well in a classroom.

The packaging says it is for Grades 6-12. I'm a little below the grade range, but it was perfectly fine for me. My older sister, "Russian Blue Witch" (RBW) was also watching. She says it included some of the same content as her "Exploring Creation with General Science" study on CD-ROM. Oh, and, this seems to support evolution, and we are a christian family, but I'm not surprised one bit. It's what I expected all along and it's what most scientists think. Besides, they don't emphasize it, so I don't think it harms the content of the DVD.

This DVD comes with a built-in teaching guide as a special feature on the DVD, but I didn't look at it. Ummm...that was a rather pointless sentence. LOL!

Overall, this has a good deal of information for being 45 minutes long and makes a great teaching tool for ages 10 and up, though it would probably be fine for younger kids too. Signed, StoryMaker. "Gotta trust the kid's review!"
