Book Description

April 7, 2009
Words of wisdom on raising a family, from President Barack Obama.

Barack Obama's eloquent words have inspired many. Here, in the only collection of its kind, are his thoughts on parenting and family. Each of his quotes is set in a context of insightful background on Obama's family experiences-a child of divorce, raised by a single mother, woven into a blended family, reared for years by his grandparents, then going on to embrace his multi-racial roots and blood relatives-and how each of these experiences helped to shape the choices he made in starting his own family.

Distinguished by its selection of photos of President Obama in casual family settings, this is an inspiring keepsake and a wonderful gift for baby showers and birthdays-as well as for the first Mother's Day and Father's Day that Obama will be in office.

2.0 out of 5 stars Marketing Ploy, April 15, 2009

This review is from: The Greatest Gift I Could Offer: Quotations from Barack Obama on Parenting and Family (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is about using the President's popular image to sell brief quotes on parenting and family. Cursory comments made before the President's quotes offer very little insight. It is basically a book of common sense notations with a presidential quotes to make it sound more credible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Parenting, May 16, 2009
This review is from: The Greatest Gift I Could Offer: Quotations from Barack Obama on Parenting and Family (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a wonderful book about another younger view on Parenting. Our parents raised us in a heavy handed way in the 40's and 50's. Work hard, be honest, get along, go to Church on Wed. and Sunday. This book is full of reasoning, understanding and wisdom. Eloquently written and very calming to read.
