Biography

Reel Big Fish are a Southern Californian ska/punk band, who rode the third wave ska revival in the late 90s with their own brand of fun, party music. Their career has taken them full circle and after a detour to post punk, they came back with the smiles and energy of their early days.

Reel Big Fish started out as a three-piece covers band playing in and around the Huntington Beach area. Their… Read more in Amazon's Reel Big Fish Store

4.0 out of 5 stars A bit of perspective, January 5, 2008
This review is from: Greatest Hit & More (Audio CD)
Though I give it four stars, I also highly recommend NOT buying it.

It is ridiculous to give this collection of great Reel Big Fish songs one star as the rest of the reviewers so far has done. For those of you not familiar with the situation, the reason fans of the band hate this album is because Jive released it after parting ways with RBF, against RBF's wishes.

I do own this album and it is not _bad_. In fact, if no superior alternative existed, this would be a nice purchase. It's a solid collection of very good songs. However, the album Our Live Album is Better Than Your Live Album, an RBF-approved collection not released by Jive, is vastly superior, and one of my favorite albums ever. The only potential problem with that album is the gratuitous profanity. Otherwise, it's better in every way: more songs, better performances, more energy, funnier, and supportive of the band.

So unless you're shying away from profanity, Our Live Album... is the way to go. Still, giving this album one star is ridiculous. It's tautly written, highly catchy ska music. Overall, they made pretty good decisions on which songs to include, and the album is decently long. You could do worse.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buy Our Live Album, August 15, 2009

Buy Our Live Album is Better Than Your Live Album instead. The band currently gets no money from this album. While it is not a bad album per say (I do own it), their live album is the same quality, and honestly a bit funnier. Plus, it features more songs. Our Live Album Is Better Than Your Live Album

1.0 out of 5 stars Jive does horrible job with this one! Not band's fault..., December 22, 2006
This review is from: Greatest Hit & More (Audio CD)
Unfortunately Jive Records managed to show everyone the true stupidity that is behind every major label. Was it greed? Yes.

This album's quality is not anything to be obsessed over when compared to "Our Live Album is Better Than Your Live Album" which the band released themselves. If you like Reel Big Fish then let their own album released on their own impress you, not something that Jive Records has beaten to death out of corporate greed.
