This review is from: Greatest Hits 1 (Audio CD)
The worst thing about most Greatest Hits albums is that if you are a fan - you have all the songs except for maybe one or two. The beauty of this CD is that even if you have every album Phil Vassar has released - there are eight songs on this album you don't have.
There are three brand new songs on the album "Last Day of My Life," "Twenty One," and "The Woman in My Life." All three songs are classic Phil Vassar and will please any fan (or Phan). The other five songs are new recordings of songs that Phil Vassar wrote and were hits by other popular artists. "Bye Bye" and "I'm Alright" (originally recorded by Jo Dee Messina), "My Next Thirty Years" and "In a Little While (originally recorded by Tim McGraw), and "Little Red Rodeo" (originally recorded by Colin Raye). Of course, you get the best of the best from his other three CDs for a total of 15 great songs on one terrific album. For the people who like unique album liners, this one has Phil's thoughts about each song, including the one song that he didn't write ("I'll Take That As a Yes"), so you get the story behind the songs. Overall, I highly recommend this CD. Enjoy.

Phil Vassar once again proves why he deserves to be called the Piano Man! Not only are his three new songs on this album incredibly heartfelt with Last Day of My Life a sure-fire number one, but Phil's own renditions of Bye, Bye; I'm Alright; My Next Thirty Years; For a Little While; and Little Red Rodeo brings new life to old favorite number ones recorded by other artists. Phil Vassar's Greatest Hits also includes the songs you have already loved from his three previous albums. This one is going straight to the top!!!

Phil is no doubt one of the best songwriters in country music, one of the best performers, and probably the most talented musician out there today. He writes, sings, plays piano - and excels at all three. This album is a great showcase for his talents, and for some really good music. Of course there aren't any bad songs on here - Phil's never released "filler" material in any of his albums. It's great he got the chance to record his songs that made other people stars, and he's got three new awesome songs on here to make this album a complete work of art.
"Last Day of My Life" is an incredibly beautiful song about the loss of a good friend, "Twenty One" is a great song reminiscing about the past, and tied for the best out of the three (along with "Last Day of My Life") is "The Woman in My Life". WOW. I can't stop playing it - his voice sounds amazing, his piano playing is amazing, and the song is just...beautiful. I am a huge Phan, so of course I have all of his albums. But I would recommend buying this album for the sole purpose to have these new songs, if nothing else. It's great to hear his renditions of his hits, however, and of course it's awesome to have a collaboration of all his other self recorded hits. All in all, this is WELL worth your money.
