5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Buy for Country Fans and Phil Phans Alike
The worst thing about most Greatest Hits albums is that if you are a fan - you have all the songs except for maybe one or two. The beauty of this CD is that even if you have every album Phil Vassar has released - there are eight songs on this album you don't have.

3.0 out of 5 stars Phil Vassar Greatest Hits
I absolutely love this CD..this collection of music is the best of the best. It explains why I have loved so many other artist's songs - that's because Phil wrote them. It is great to hear how Phil sings them. He doesn't miss a beat. A MUST HAVE.

The worst thing about most Greatest Hits albums is that if you are a fan - you have all the songs except for maybe one or two. The beauty of this CD is that even if you have every album Phil Vassar has released - there are eight songs on this album you don't have.

There are three brand new songs on the album "Last Day of My Life," "Twenty One," and "The Woman in My Life." All three songs are classic Phil Vassar and will please any fan (or Phan).

The other five songs are new recordings of songs that Phil Vassar wrote and were hits by other popular artists. "Bye Bye" and "I'm Alright" (originally recorded by Jo Dee Messina), "My Next Thirty Years" and "In a Little While (originally recorded by Tim McGraw), and "Little Red Rodeo" (originally recorded by Colin Raye).

Of course, you get the best of the best from his other three CDs for a total of 15 great songs on one terrific album. For the people who like unique album liners, this one has Phil's thoughts about each song, including the one song that he didn't write ("I'll Take That As a Yes"), so you get the story behind the songs.

Overall, I highly recommend this CD. Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you buy only one CD this year-THIS IS IT!!!, May 2, 2006

This review is from: Greatest Hits 1 (Audio CD)
Phil Vassar once again proves why he deserves to be called the Piano Man! Not only are his three new songs on this album incredibly heartfelt with Last Day of My Life a sure-fire number one, but Phil's own renditions of Bye, Bye; I'm Alright; My Next Thirty Years; For a Little While; and Little Red Rodeo brings new life to old favorite number ones recorded by other artists. Phil Vassar's Greatest Hits also includes the songs you have already loved from his three previous albums. This one is going straight to the top!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Pleasurable, May 7, 2006

Phil is no doubt one of the best songwriters in country music, one of the best performers, and probably the most talented musician out there today. He writes, sings, plays piano - and excels at all three. This album is a great showcase for his talents, and for some really good music. Of course there aren't any bad songs on here - Phil's never released "filler" material in any of his albums. It's great he got the chance to record his songs that made other people stars, and he's got three new awesome songs on here to make this album a complete work of art.

"Last Day of My Life" is an incredibly beautiful song about the loss of a good friend, "Twenty One" is a great song reminiscing about the past, and tied for the best out of the three (along with "Last Day of My Life") is "The Woman in My Life". WOW. I can't stop playing it - his voice sounds amazing, his piano playing is amazing, and the song is just...beautiful.

I am a huge Phan, so of course I have all of his albums. But I would recommend buying this album for the sole purpose to have these new songs, if nothing else. It's great to hear his renditions of his hits, however, and of course it's awesome to have a collaboration of all his other self recorded hits. All in all, this is WELL worth your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phil Vassar's Greatest Hits is his GREATEST HITS, May 3, 2006
This review is from: Greatest Hits 1 (Audio CD)
This Cd is well worth the money. Tough titled Greatest Hits, there are quite a few "hits" on here that you haven't heard Phil ever do on tracks before. Phil is an amazing writer and has had many artists record his work in the past, includeing Tim McGraw, Alan jackson, Kenny Chesney, Colin Ray among others. On this disc you will find not only some of Phil's greatest hits that he himself recorded and has had radio play for, but songs like "My Next 30 Years" "Little Red Rodeo" "A Little While" among other.
I definately reccomend this disc for any Phil Phan or those who might just like a little something diferent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Country's Piano Man-The songs you love by the man who wrote them!, May 3, 2006
This review is from: Greatest Hits 1 (Audio CD)
If you are a Tim McGraw, Jo Dee Messina or Collin Raye fan, then you NEED this cd. Songs you already know and love by these artists...My Next 30 Years, For a Little While, Little Red Rodeo, Bye Bye and I'm Alright - performed as they were originally written - by Phil Vassar - on this album. A little edgier - a little more piano - and a LOT more wonderful! Not to mention the scores of his own hits...Carlene, Just Another Day in Pardise, Six Pack Summer, In A Real Love, American Child...AND THREE new songs...like his current single "Last Day of My Life" and the amazing "The Women In My Life"...this album is a must have for every Phil fan!

If you are not already a Phil Vassar fan, you will be after buying this album! Treat yourself to this fabulous music TODAY!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Home Run, May 2, 2006
This review is from: Greatest Hits 1 (Audio CD)
This was a brilliantly put together album from the liner notes to the wonderful songs. I'm so long to hear phil's version of how to sing the songs that so many great artists like Tim mcgraw,Colin Raye have found to be milestones for their own success.. Without great Songwriters like Phil Vassar there would be no big hits. I especially enjoyed My Next 30 years and Last Day of my life is just all altogether amazing song..
2 thumbs up on this album.
You have fifteen songs to enjoy hours and hours of quality musical entertainment. Unlike other Greatest Hits Cd's you get alot of new material on this one and I'd recommend it to everyone who loves country music, and even those who don't.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phil's best yet!!, May 2, 2006

This review is from: Greatest Hits 1 (Audio CD)
This is a great CD. It's so great to finally get recordings by Phil doing the songs he wrote for other artists. He always performs them at his shows, so this is a real treat to get them on CD. His renditions are awesome, and he has a lot more piano dominant arrangements on here. The 3 new songs are excellent. I think 'The Woman In my Life' is the best song he has ever done. I've listened to it several times and I like it more each time! It's so great to get a greatest hits CD that has 3 brand new songs and 5 songs we already love but never recorded by Phil Vassar!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Concept! Brilliant Album!, May 3, 2006

I have been a fan of Phil Vassar since he first emerged as a performer 8 or 9 years ago. But Phil has been writing spectacular songs for other artists like Tim McGraw, Jo Dee Messina, Alan Jackson, and Collin Raye, for years and finally gets to put his own voice on them! What a cool idea for a different type of 'Greatest Hits' album! Usually, if I'm a fan of an artist who comes out with a GH album, Buying it is a waste because I probably own most of the songs on the album already. In this case, I couldn't wait to hear his version of his songs that we all love but have in essence never heard before! My only complaint is it's too SHORT! Can't wait for Volume 2!
