5.0 out of 5 stars Brian's Best
This album is the best I've ever heard. The mechanics of Brian's music is electrifying. It sounds as beautiful today as it did 30 years ago. This music should passed down from generation to generation, not forgotten. This album should listened to and mentally embraced by everyone who listens to it.

3.0 out of 5 stars one singer - two eras
this cd is typical of the record companies - It is aimed at the general 'oldie' lover but not the dyed-in-the-wool fan. It is an album of two halves: pre & post beatles material - i certainly know what i prefer!!. Where are the missing early songs including flipsides and LP tracks? - Brian Hyland made his name as one of the teen idols and this material should be kept...

4.0 out of 5 stars Some hits still missing, August 19, 2002
By
There are several Brian Hyland greatest hits collection available, not one of them has all his hits. For instance, "Baby face", "Lopsided overload" and "Four little heels (The clickity clack song)" are not available in most of these CDs. Luckliy, I have the above three missing songs from other compilations, "Four little heels" from Europe MCA's 1989 release titled "16 Original World Hits - Golden Gate Collection -Brian Hyland", "Baby face" from oldies compilation "Platinum Oldies" released by Hong Kong's WEA, and "Lopsided overloaded" from a friend's old LP transferred to CD. Record companies are accustomed to leave out some hits in the greatest hits compilation, almost all of them adopt this market strategy, so we have to buy more than one CD to get all the hits of one particular artist, if they are still available in the market, but in reality, the missing hits are really hard to find. Let's hope that someday record companies would do more research work before releasing greatest hits CD to fit customers' need.

It is an album of two halves: pre & post beatles material - i certainly know what i prefer!!. Where are the missing early songs including flipsides and LP tracks? - Brian Hyland made his name as one of the teen idols and this material should be kept separately from the later songs. This could be said of many similar artists i.e. Tommy Roe and Lou Christie - at least 'Rosemary' was included - oh for the complete recordings to 1963.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too much remastered, March 5, 2008
The music and the album are great. But I had a couple of more albums of Brian Hyland. I played same songs from the same starting points. The sound on this album is flat. It is cleaner but flat. Not a good remaster.

5.0 out of 5 stars CAN'T PICTURE ROCK-POP WITHOUT THESE SINGERS, October 23, 2002

IT REALLY IS GREAT THAT ALL THIS MUSIC WAS RE-RELEASED WHEN RECORDS WENT TO C.D.'S. I CAN'T PICTURE POP-ROCK WITHOUT THESE SINGERS. BRIAN HYLAND DID OTHER BEAUTIFUL SONGS THAN "SEALED WITH A KISS" AND THEY ARE HERE ON THIS C.D. SOUNDING CLEARER THAN EVER! I TRULY RECOMMEND THIS PARTICULAR COMPLETE COLLECTION.WHEN AN ALBUM IS TITLED "GREATEST HITS" WE ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED WHEN THEY'RE NOT ALL THERE, AS WAS THE CASE IN ANNETTE'S C.D.BY NOT PUTTING IN ALL THE SONGS, FUTURE GENERATIONS WILL THINK THAT IT WAS ALL THEY RECORDED OR THAT THE REST WERE NOT WORTHWHILE RE-RELEASING. BUY THIS C.D. IT'S GREAT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Five stars for the music and cover booklet!, May 14, 2010
This is a pretty good collection of Brian Hyland hits.
It could have been more extensive, but all top forty hits are here.
And the c.d. has excellent sound.

From 1960 to 1971, Hyland had 22 songs chart, 15 of those are here.
Seven of those 15 made the top forty.
Here also is one b-side, "Save your heart for me",
and two songs that were not hits, "Rosemary" and "Could you dig it".

I have had this c.d. for many years, and have enjoyed what is here,
but I've always wanted some other songs that weren't here.
I've always LOVED the song "Hung up in your eyes" from 1967.

I have recently purchased a c.d. that has EVERY Hyland charted song.
It's just what I was looking for, as far as the music goes.
But often the imports will be mimimal in their packaging, and information.
Thats how my new c.d. is.
So, -- THERE IS something special about this 1994
M.C.A. release of greatest hits after all.
THE FIFTHTEEN PAGE COVER BOOKLET!

Here are some nice pictures of Hyland, a lot of information about his life and career.
Included with the track listing is the year and chart position of each song,
that's a nice extra. Sooo, this old c.d. is nice to have after all.

Five stars for the quality of the music, and the hits that ARE here,
and the BOOKLET that has turned into a prized possession in my oldies collection!

Footnote: The c.d. "Brian Hyland" on Rock and beat label was my choice
to add ALL of Hylands hits to my collection.
The cover pictures Hyland in a red shirt, and the entire cover is yellow and red.
Hyland's hands are around the end of a guitar.

More than bringing back those good old days, we have a singer with a sweet voice.

Yes, he can sing and it is a wonder that he never became a big star that would be very familiar, say like Frankie Avalon. Maybe he should of made movies too. All the songs are sing a long and catchy and the one thing I find interesting is that Brian's career rocketed with Itsy Bitsy teeny-weeny and finished with a big hit Gypsy Woman. He opened and closed a full ten years 1960-70. Please dont forget all the songs in-between. The Joker went Wild is my Fav.

Thank You Brian Hyland for the hits.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hyland's high points, March 5, 2008
Brian Hyland was of the post Buddy Holley teen idol set. Early 60's radio needed an Elvis, needed a pop styled male vocalist that was cute, huggable, and sounded like the boyfriend next door maybe one with with big brown eyes and wouldn't kiss on the first date, but was dreamy and not too ..Fabian.
Brian Hyland had a folk background, then got a novelity hit, "Yellow Polked Dot Bikini", a true sign of '60's sexual awakingings seen through '50's hubba hubba.
Brian made folk styled LPs throughout the early '60's and waited for another hit. He had a few scrapes along the bottom of the top 100 mid '60s. He found a patron in Dick Clark and was a regular on the mid '60's afternoon teen TV show, "Where The Action Is!". He then had a couple more hits, "Joker Went Wild", "Run Run Look And See". The songs were of an era and still stand up as examples of innocence/fun/white booted girls go-going to the beat.
Brian had a last hit with a cover of Impressions' "Gypsy Woman". #3! but no one will ever confuse it with the original.
This CD has most of the best of Brian, without LP favorites like "Lavender Blue", but does have the first version of "Save Your Heart for Me", a huge hit for Gary Lewis/Playboys.
The stereo separation is fine and the sound is like sittin' on the beach...

5.0 out of 5 stars A few classics and a novelty song, March 11, 2005
Novelty records were very popular in the early fifties but the advent of rock'n'roll made it much harder for such records to chart. It was all the more remarkable that Brian Hyland had a huge international hit with Itsy bitsy teeny-weeny yellow polka dot bikini. It became so successful that Dalida recorded a French version of the song. The lyrics are silly but it has a very catchy tune.

Brian later recorded more conventional songs and had huge international hits with Ginny come lately and Sealed with a kiss. He had other American hits with Let me belong to you, The joker went wild, Run run look and see and Gypsy woman, the latter also being a minor UK hit. Brian also had minor UK hits with Four little heels and Warmed over kisses.

Despite being recorded for different record labels, all of Brian's hits have been assembled together in this one volume. It's well worth a listen - even if you feel obliged to skip the opening track.
