Forming in Los Angeles in 1964, because guitarist Roger McGuinn wanted to mix the sounds of the Beatles and Bob Dylan, their 1965 cover of Dylan's "Mr Tambourine Man" featured a hugely… Read more in Amazon's The Byrds Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock Folk Music, September 14, 2009
The Byrds' Greatest Hits is thirty-two minutes and seventeen seconds long. The original album was released on August 7, 1967 and reached #6 on the US Billboard Album 200 charts. The cassette version was released on December 15, 1992. It features their top hits from 1965-1967; though two of the ten songs on this cassette did not chart. The sound and quality on this cassette is great. Below is a list on song on the cassette and how high that song charted. This is an excellent cassette to own. The Byrds' Greatest Hits gets an AAAAA+++++.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you can only buy one Byrds album, this is the one., August 5, 1998

This review is from: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I only wish all Greatest Hits albums were as good as this one. This album catches the feel of one of the most important American bands of the 1960's. The optimism and hope it expresses still stand up today. Roger McGuinn's 12-string guitar sound reverberates through the album defining forever the California sound of the mid 1960's.

This album marks the end of the Byrds as a hit-making machine and is the last album that David Crosby plays a significant part. It's timeless and a joy to listen to.
