CHEECH & CHONG-CHEECH & CHONG'S GREATEST HIT: Don't know what the compilers of this weak excuse for a career overview were smokin' at the time, but somethin' sure smells "funny". Rock n' roll's unofficial counterculture spokesmen of the 70's and their legions of fans deserve higher grade stuff than this. A shortened version of the classic DAVE opens the album and fades out, only to resurface briefly seven cuts later, leaving off the punchline! Big single EARACHE MY EYE is similarly chopped in half, giving you the Alice Bowie rock tune parody, but omitting the even funnier confrontation between "Daddy" and "Junior". There's far too much PEDRO AND THE MAN (over twenty minutes) spread over three tracks---one woulda sufficed, leaving room for missing cult classics like the gluttonous BLOAT ON and BORN IN EAST L.A., the duo's jab at Springsteen and final hit. At least smart-aleck smashes SISTER MARY ELEPHANT and BASKETBALL JONES survive intact, and blooze singer Blind Melon Chitlin' makes a welcome appearance. The same can't be said for quite a few other fondly remembered C & C routines...to quote Chong, "That's a drag, Man!" RATING: TWO TOKES

This one is pretty good but it's missing a couple of songs like Santa Claus and His Old Lady. That should of been on here because that song is pretty hard to find. It was only released as a single and was never put on a album. The only place you can find it is on the various artists christmas compilations. It also overlooks the duo's 2 out of print albums, Sleeping Beauty and Let's Make a New Dope Deal, which feature great songs and bits like Bloat on, Queer Wars, Framed, and Sleeping Beauty. It also overlooks the Up in Smoke soundtrack, with the exception of Earache my Eye, which was already on the Wedding Album. The album should of had the origanal version of Earache my Eye that was on the Wedding Album instead of the edited version. It's also missing great bits like Acapulco Gold Filters, Don't Bug Me, Up His Nose, and Black Lassie. It's missing songs like the Up in Smoke Theme and Rock Fight. If the album had songs from all their albums and didn't overlook other great bits and songs, it would of been the only C&C disc most C&C fans would need. I would recommend that you get all their albums though since they all contain high quality material not heard here.

The first time that I listened to this album I almost wet my pants. If you wanna buy a comedy album this is the only one you'll ever need, trust me, you won't be sorry. Peace!
