This CD is actually a re-issue of Capital Records late 50's release of "The Fabulous Hits Of Dinah Shore." These were remakes of Dinah's RCA hits for Capital. Aside from a really corny Chantez, Chantez" most of it is good and some even jazz oriented. Here Shore sings difinitive versions of "Laughing On The outside..." "Jim" and "It's So Nice To Have A Man Around The House." Though I generally prefer jazz singers like Billie Holiday and Mildred Bailey, Dianh Shore could sing jazz pretty good too, when given the oppritunity. Look hard for Dinah Sings Some Blues With Red Norvo(where she scats like crazy on "I Can't Believe That You're In Love With Me") and also serach hard for Songs In A Midnight Mood which Dianh cut with Andre Previn's trio, where she fools you into thinking she's June Christy on "April In Paris"

I've never had high regard for Dinah Shore's voice and bought this CD for just a couple of songs. 'Chantez, Chantez' carries me back to my childhood, hearing it on the radio. 'Dear Hearts', the same thing. The audio quality is good on here, the CD is not expensive, and if one is a Dinah Shore fan one could do worse in a selection on one CD.

I bought (and still have) the original recording, "The Fabulous Hits of Dinah Shore" when it first came out over 50 years ago, and am really happy it's available (all of the songs are there, but in a different order from the original) in cd format. Even though Dinah re-recorded her orignal hits, the arrangements were new and exciting and have held up well. "Chantez, Chantez," "Laughing On The Outside," and "I Ain't Down Yet" are my favorites.
