5.0 out of 5 stars Relive Late 90's!
The SPICE GIRLS was a short-lived pop group back in the late 90s. After losing a member and unofficially splitting up, each girl went and had a solo career in music. The total number of solo albums they recorded is greater than the number of albums they made as a group. However, discussing further their solo albums is not relevant in this review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Relive Late 90's!, April 17, 2008
This review is from: Greatest Hits (W/Dvd) (Audio CD)
The SPICE GIRLS was a short-lived pop group back in the late 90s. After losing a member and unofficially splitting up, each girl went and had a solo career in music. The total number of solo albums they recorded is greater than the number of albums they made as a group. However, discussing further their solo albums is not relevant in this review.

After more than five years since they released their last album Forever, the girls had finally agreed to reunite for a "world" tour and the much-awaited (by the fans) Greatest Hits.

This particular item is the CD/DVD edition. All their singles are included in the CD, from Wannabe to Headlines (Friendship Never Ends). The radio edits and single versions of the songs are used. So for those who only have their albums you finally get the single version of 2 Become 1, in which Victoria sang the fourth verse instead of Geri.

Their well-known Pepsi advert theme song called Move Over (Generation Next), and a second new track Voodoo (Headlines is the other one) are included here to complete the 15 tracks that composed the CD.

What's better in this album is that the songs had been remastered. Though not mentioned in the inlay of the album, the improvement over the sound of the tracks can be heard, especially in Who Do You Think You Are.

The DVD contains all of their music videos sans Headlines (the US version includes Headlines though). It's fun to watch once more their cool videos such as the futuristic Spice Up Your Life, the sexy Holler, and the MTV-awarded Viva Forever. You'll get to notice some cute and petty little things in their videos which you might not have noticed before, since during their time DVD was not yet popular.

If you want to relive 90's music, have a happy/light mood, have fun, or maybe dance, then this album is recommended for you. The SPICE GIRLS may not have lasted long. But their impact in music and their legacy are presented once again in this album.

Includes DVD of the SPICE GIRLS music Videos!!! Not that there is anything wrong with just listening to Emma, Geri, Melanie B, Melanie C, and Victoria, but I prefer to watch as well. I had not seen the new video, HEADLINES (Friendship Never Ends), and was very impressed. They all still look great! I am surprised that the SPICE GIRLS seemed to suffer a backlash as they were never pretentious. I appreciate their sense of fun and positivity. A SPICE WORLD would suit me just fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect, March 15, 2008
This review is from: Greatest Hits (W/Dvd) (Audio CD)
Almost perfect! The plus side is that these videos are totally uncensored. The uncensored versions have more bare-chested guys, lol. The bad thing is that there is only 1 version of "Who Do You Think You Are." It is the version WITHOUT the spice-doubles. Also, towards the end, the videos are out of order of how they were made. They have 'Headlines' and other tracks listed before 'Goodbye.' 'Goodbye' was the first single released from their third album. 'Headlines' is from this album. Other than that, a great DVD!

one of the great pop groups of the 1990's. 2 Become 1 is absolutely a masterpiece in the world of here today, gone tommorrow music. Worth it just for the price of the album.

End thoughts: All the hits/singles of course, 2 new songs "Voodoo" & "Headlines" both well done. Grew up listing to the Spice Girls, and as a fan of britpop music (Thanx to the girls), they will always remain with me. Perfect collection really, I just personally never thought "Mama" & "Viva Forever" should have been singles, yet they were massively successful. "Move Over" really isn't a song & so I knock it for being placed on this collection.

The Spice Girls are Back!! Well Sort of. The disc was to coincide with their reunion tour. It features all the Spice classics like Wannabe and Say You'll Be There and all thier videos. It features two new songs Headlines and Voodoo. Headlines is very sappy and sweet, while Voodoo is an attempt at a dance track. The only problem I have with this disc is that Voodoo is such a weak attempt at a dance track. I just feel that it could've been better considering these are the girls who gave us Wannabe. Even at their worst they are still at thier best. The Spice Girls are back and hopefully they will put out a new album together and show these new girl groups how its done. Welcome back girls.

5.0 out of 5 stars They Shine!, March 18, 2008
This review is from: Greatest Hits (W/Dvd) (Audio CD)
I have been Spice Girls fan since I heard the song "Wannabe" and I have all of their three albums and all of their singles. I have to say that this collection is very good, and I couldn't have imagines any other kind of compilation than this. Of course they have great songs, like "If You Wanna Have Some Fun", "Love Thing", "Last Time Lover", "Saturday Night Divas", "Never Give Up on the Good Times" etc. but these 13 songs were their hits. There's also two new songs "Headlines" and "Voodoo".
From "Spice":
1. Wannabe - maybe their most famous song ever, their debut single. 9/10
2. Say You'll Be There - my favourite song from "Spice". 10/10
3. 2 Become 1 - a great ballad, one of their most beautiful songs. 9/10
4. Mama - Yes, a great song dedicated to their mothers. 8/10
5. Who Do you Think You Are - released together as "Mama" single. 10/10
From "Spiceworld"
6. Move Ever - this is the Pepsi commercial song, very rocking! "Generation next..." 9/10
7. Spice Up Your life - this is my all-time favourite Spice Girls song - awesome! 10/10
8. Too Much - A peaceful song but still great! 8/10
9. Stop - A great song, was once one of my favs. 9/10
10. Viva Forever - beautiful but sad. I remember that radios played this song when Geri left Spice Girls. 9/10
From "Forever"
11. Let Love Lead the Way - their third single from their third album. Quite a slow song. 8/10
12. Holler - my least favourite song in this compilation. 7/10
15. Goodbye - a farewell song for Geri, the first single without her. A beautiful song! 9/10
New songs:
13. Headlines (Friendship Never Ends) - as they promised in "Wannabe" - friendship never ends. Very peaceful song but quite a good one! 8/10
14. Voodoo - kind of a dance song that has a little bit of that good old girl power 8/10
Stars: Spice Up Your Life, Say You'll Be There, Who Do You Think You Are, Goodbye

5.0 out of 5 stars How a greatest hits should be done, March 25, 2011
This review is from: Greatest Hits (W/Dvd) (Audio CD)
I won't review every track on this album because I've already reviewed most of them in my past reviews on the Spice Girls' albums. What I can say is that everything was done perfectly for this greatest hits release. Not only do we get all of their big hits re-mastered but we also get a DVD with all of their music videos & 2 brand new songs. Make sure you buy the US CD+DVD version so you can have the "Headlines" video which was only on the US DVD for some reason. All of the videos are amazing & the quality is to die for. This is definitely a must have for any Spice Girls fan! I'm sad I didn't get to see the girls on their reunion tour but I think it's great that they all reunited (even Geri) for this release. We get 2 new songs from all 5 girls. "Headlines" was released as the single from the album. It's another brilliant ballad from the girls. Some people were dissappointed but I don't know why because lyrically, vocally & musically, it's perfection. "Voodoo" is the other new song we get. I didn't love it at first but it's grown on me. Definitely a throw back to the girls' old style back in the day. It's a fun dance track & I love some of the remixes I've discovered. Overall, if you're a fan, you need this CD+DVD set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Come on...you know you want it, July 14, 2008

This review is from: Greatest Hits (W/Dvd) (Audio CD)
If you were older than 5 in 1994, then you remember this quintet of Brits bursting onto the scene. No, I'm not referring to the Beatles--it's the Spice Girls! Ginger, Sporty, Baby, Posh and Scary (otherwise known as Geri, Mel C, Emma, Victoria and Mel B) took the world by storm (even outselling that other famous Brit quintet I mentioned earlier), and introduced the world to Girl Power. Even though their career went by the wayside far earlier than it should have, their multitude of hits are still great today (and they're even making a small comeback). This collection not only includes pretty much every big song they ever put out, it also includes a 2nd disc with the videos of all but 2 of the songs on the CD! If you ever liked them--even if it was only in the privacy of your bedroom--buy this. You won't be disappointed.
