5.0 out of 5 stars excellent two CD set of Eddie Fisher's best
Eddie Fisher is not remembered the way he deserves to be remembered; and hopefully some people will get this fine two CD set and discover Eddie's great talent for singing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Only 192k for MP3
Worthy of note is that the MP3 downloads of this album are only 192k and not the claimed 256k (at least for the two tracks I downloaded - Thinking of You and Outside of Heaven).

Eddie Fisher is not remembered the way he deserves to be remembered; and hopefully some people will get this fine two CD set and discover Eddie's great talent for singing.

"Nightwind (Sighing)" has Eddie crooning with the best of them; he never misses a beat and the strings enhance the natural beauty of this song. Eddie also delivers a passionate rendition of "My Buddy;" Eddie makes this song all his own with his fantastic interpretation of "My Buddy." The strings and the piano carry the melody very well, too. Moreover, "Turn Back The Hands Of Time" gets the royal treatment from Eddie Fisher; and the backup vocalists bolster Eddie's performance. Eddie sings flawlessly of a young love he remembers fondly and this number also allows Eddie to show off his solid vocal range.

"Tell Me Why" is another Eddie Fisher masterpiece; and he sings this without a superfluous note. Eddie never sounded better; what a crooner he was! The backup choir works well for "Tell Me Why," too. "Forgive Me" again places Eddie's vocals squarely in the spotlight as sings of a man who wants his woman to forgive him after a nasty quarrel. The strings help to carry the melody on "Forgive Me," too. "Watermelon Weather" is something of a novelty piece that features Perry Como singing alongside Eddie; and together they do a great job on "Watermelon Weather."

The second CD continues the hits. "Wish You Were Here" proves Eddie's talent once again; he sings this flawlessly with all his heart and soul. Eddie sings of a man who misses his former woman; and in Eddie's competent care "Wish You Were Here" sparkles like a masterpiece! "I'm In The Mood For Love" also shines like gold as Eddie delivers this tender ballad with sensitivity and panache. Moreover, Eddie sings "That Old Feeling" and he makes it sound so fresh you would swear you'd never heard it before! Great strings on "That Old Feeling," too.

"Just Another Polka" gives us a fun polka number but Eddie's vocals are front and center. "Just Another Polka" features a great backup chorus and the musical arrangement couldn't be better! Eddie sings happily of his joy when he dances the polka with his girlfriend. Great! Last but not least, Eddie's rendition of "Oh, My PaPa" lacks nothing--it's THAT good. The horns enhance the melody; and Eddie's voice is warm and full of masculine warmth. Excellent!

The liner notes provide us with some very good artwork; and we get an informative essay. There are song credits and recording dates are there for most of the songs, too.

Eddie Fisher clearly was a great singer of the twentieth century; and I remain somewhat mystified that more people don't remember him. However, CDs like this one are readily available--and if you like classic pop vocals, you'll love this two CD set!
