I purchased and listened and enjoyed this CD - BUT this is not the original recordings. If you are looking for the original sound, look for another "best of". Also, there is no mention anywhere, by anyone, that this is not the original recordings.

and when I saw this CD on Amazon for a paltry $6.62, I thought, "Why not?" Gadzooks!!! What a bargain. If one can wear out a compact disc, I'm going to suceed. I, like another reviewer, was a closet Fleetwoods fan during my high school days in the late '50s & early '60s. If only my pals could have taken the time to listen to the soft and lovely strains of "Come Softly, Darling," "Mr. Blue," "Tragedy," "Runaround," "Outside My Window," etc., the Beatles might not have had a chance. Now I see another Fleetwoods emission that I've just got to have, VERY BEST OF THE FLEETWOODS. It has 28 tracks with 3 A Capella versions of their best work. I just hope it arrives before this one is worn to the hub. Bravo!

My darkest high school secret was that I owned a Fleetwoods album (considered very geeky by my buddies) and I listened to it incessantly. When I stumbled upon their "Greatest Hits" at Amazon for only six and a half bucks, it was a no- brainer decision to buy. Everybody knows "Mr. Blue" and "Tragedy" are classic tunes, but how have the other songs on the album held up over the years? Well I've just listened to the album six straight times, and the answer is GREAT. The sweet, angelic back-up vocals and harmonies by Barbara Ellis and Gretchen Chritopher are marvelous. You can't go wrong if you buy this CD.

Today, I met the "real" Gretchen Christopher (now Matzen) I work in a medical clinic, and not knowing who she was, I commented on her youthful appearence. As it would turn out she told me she was a singer, and she told me she was with the Fleetwoods. Sounded familiar but I wasn't old enough then to know. My mother listened to the music, SO in her explanation of the songs she sang, She sang for me Come Softly To Me. Needless to say, she sounded exactly as I remembered. Bravo!!!

Doo-wop aficionados cannot fail to love this compilation. Gary

Troxel and the Fleetwoods harmonize within a very elite category of groups such as the early Beach Boys. Their big hits

"Mr. Blue" and "Come Softly" speak for themselves, but pay

attention to the haunting music and lyrics of "Tragedy" as well!

HOw could you go wrong with this price? I saw the Fleetwoods at Mohegan Sun Casino in January, and loved their music prior to that. They sound exactly the same, and i loved it! We even got to meet them during intermission.... This CD has great sound, and all the songs are great. Put it on Repeat, and it'll play over and over again!
