I surely remember this singer; I was a pre-teen when he was a popular singer. It's a shame that he never crossed-over like the late Luther Vandross did, but I'll take Freddie over any of these modern-day R&B singers.

This newest greatest hits is very good, with colorful photos, & an interesting essay by Rashod Ollison (who are also appearly little when Jackson first come out).

So why am I saying that this 18-track GH is for new fans of Freddie Jackson only? First of all, if you're a diehard fan of his, chances are you already got most of his best work. & do be aware that to fit the 18 songs here, many of the songs are single versions (LPs versions of Tracks 1,8,9,& 16 are much better then their shorten counterparts).

As for the novice fan, start out with this & then get his first two LPs "Rock Me Tonight", & "Just Like the First Time" both are still in print. Recently, Jackson released a new LP named "Transitions" from an inde label, & he's still singing like he did 20 years ago.

Freddie Jackson was one of the premier Soul balladeers of the 1980s and '90s. While it would be nice to see all of his Capitol CDs properly reissued in their entirety this collection is a fine distillation of his best tracks for the label. Freddie and his producers (Paul Laurence, Gene McFadden, Barry Eastmond, etc.) made musical magic each time they recorded new music and this CD offers the cream of the crop. An indispensable collection for all who love smooth and romantic Soul.

This guy doesn't receive half the credit he deserves. His music is full of substance and very pleasing to the ears. Hey Lover good track, as well as all the others. Very talented gentleman.

I say run now and get your copy. I got mine and I am so pleased. All of his greatest hits are on this, like "Rock me Tonight", "Have You Ever Loved Somebody", "Nice and Slow" and "Jam Tonight". You will regret it ladies and gentlemen if you let this slip away from you. Purchase this and enjoy some good lovers music or just enjoy Freddie Jackson sing.

I would recommend Greatest Hits by Freddie Jackson to a friend.

Glad to have this in my collection again. Over the years I've managed to lose a lot of music due to moving (Marine Corps Vet) or "bad loans".
Hit after hit on this one folks. This was one of the rare albums that I loved from beginning to end. A word of caution, not all recordings are created equal. I purchased the mp3 version and it is a very high quality recording. it sounds fantastic on my system. Which consists of a Sony STR-DN2010 7.1 3D Receiver, 3 Klipsh G-28's as the left, center and right channels, 2 Pure Acoustics HT-770 rear surrounds and a HSU VTF-MK2 Sub.
In the past, I have purchased several poor quality CD and mp3 and recordings here on Amazon. Make sure the copy you are buying is recorded from a master copy. Not a copy of a copy of a copy of a master recording. Still with me? To be honest, I didn't realize the glaring sonic differences until I upgraded my speakers.

This is a great collection of all of Freddie's classic 80s and 90s jams! All of his hits are present here (the only drawback is most of the songs are the single versions), however, it's still a great listen. Reminisce with classics like "Rock Me Tonight," "You Are My Lady," "Tasty Love," "Jam Tonight," "Nice 'N Slow," and more. I now see why he scored 10 #1 singles in six years on the Billboard R&B singles chart with classic songs like these.

Freddie Jackson was one of the most successful r&b acts of the 80's and early 90's. Back in the day, some consider him to be a lite version of Luther Vandross but Freddie was in a league of his own. Hit aftet hit resulting in 10 number 1 singles. Luther, Whitney, Michael or Prince can't claim that, but those artists experienced cross over sucess that alluded Freddie. Rock me Tonight, You are my Lady, I Do w/Natalie Cole, Jam Tonight, A little bit More, are just a few of my faves.

As we speak i am listening to his best of collection and as i reflect on this singer i am hard press to find a better vocalist. His voice is absolutely supperb, romantic and very satisfying to my soul. The question for me is why do lesser singers recieve so much recognition is it base on quality or quantity or just simply being overated. Great artist superb music wonderful voice the best in my book highly recommended.
