1.0 out of 5 stars I had forgotten..........
WOW!!! I used to love these guys when I was in high school and had forgotten about them until recently when I saw this disc in a used bin at a record store. When I put the disc on I could hardly believe my ears! The level of musicianship, quality of arrangements, and man oh man, Emanuel Rahiem Leblanc's voice is astounding!!! I didn't remember what a truly spectacular...

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic GQ!, October 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I remember when the song "I Do Love You" played on the radio in the late 70's. This was my first introduction to GQ, and I've loved their music ever since. Their greatest hits were the Billy Stewart remakes like the one mentioned above and "Sitting in the Park". The other songs were nice but didn't quite have the appeal of the Billy Stewart remakes. The 1st track "Disco Nights (Rock Freak)" is their quintessential contribution to the disco era. It was a top hit and definitely an essential to any disco dance collection. If you like GQ, this will be the only CD you will ever need to own by them!

5.0 out of 5 stars GQ..., November 5, 2003
This review is from: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Like Herb Lane of GQ, I really can't rate this album either. I have been a fan since... well I can't say but it's been a very very long time. The music is always jammin!!! I was able to catch a show back in 2001 and man!!! It was OUTSTANDING!!! The crowd was roaring and I know I was dancing and was totally amazed at the performance. Looking at my name, yes I am related to one of the members of the group but nevermind that. The music is hitting. I look forward to hearing more from them in the future. We need more good music! Peace and love to everyone. Let's have more Disco Nights!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Live Show, August 6, 2003

I honestly can't comment on the CD, I haven't purchased it yet, but I will. I saw GQ perform live at the Robin Hood Dell East in Philadelphia on Monday, Aug 4 2003 with Slave and Cameo. While Cameo was very good, without a doubt GQ stole the show. GQ was phenominal. I couldn't believe my eyes and ears. GQ provided the best concert I had seen in YEARS. The only other concert that was even CLOSE was a Mary J Blidge concert I saw in Atlantic City. After seeing GQ live, I WILL be purchasing this CD. They are BADDD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Talk about some good disco hits., June 30, 2007
This review is from: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
This was another one of those fine Disco groups that came along during the tale end of the 70's. "Disco Nights" to this day is still a popular dance song in the club scene. At least where i live and party at. If you are a true disco fan, this is one group you should have in your collection.

Smooth and mellow, sophistocated and important. This is how GQ sounds on their CD. Keep it going on, fellows.

1.0 out of 5 stars I had forgotten.........., July 3, 2006

I didn't remember what a truly spectacular singer this guy was - an absolute equal of any of the great R&B stars of the 70's or 80's. To label them a "disco" band only, would be doing a misservice to the group. Their music skillfully and beautifully fuses soul, funk, doo-wop, and R&B. I believe it's much more musically substantial than a "disco band" label implies, that's all.

Judging by alot of the feedback here they can apparently still throw down in concert as well. That's not a surprise. Listen to the skill all the players in this band possess and you'll see why this band's music is timeless - sounds as good today as 20-30 years ago, and will sound as good 50 years from now. I sure hope they play Minneapolis soon!!!
