Most of songs were very goood,

I really like Baroque Music, especially piano. Most of the songs were good recordings. One song of special note: Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring was a very poor recording on this CD. This CD was purchased just for this one song. I was a little disappointed, but the rest of the songs turned out great. All in all, still a worthwhile CD.

Loses something in translation,

The liner notes readily admits that these pieces were originally written for harpsichord. The piano tends to mellow out the crisp, high "tinginess" so something is lost in translation. Good selections though.

Wonderful collection of Baroque music,

Know who the best piano player of the 17th century was? I didn't until I read the liner notes in this collection. While all the music was written for harpsichord (since the piano wasn't invented until the 18th century) this album is a very entertaining introduction to a nice collection of Baroque masterpieces. Eminently listenable album.
