5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't give Keith less than 5 stars!, May 24, 2010
This review is from: The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Keith Green's career was quite brief so I think it would be better to simply re-release 'The Ministry Years' CDs as they contained all his songs...after all you can fit all his studio recordings on 4 CDs. 'Greatest Hits' albums rarely please everyone because of what they omit. 'When I Hear The Praises Start' should have been included but hey that's my opinion. It's Keith at the end of the day - passionate, brilliant, moving and inspiring so I have to give it 5 stars. After all...he was the greatest CCM singer/songwriter ever.

Other really good Christian products I would recommend are the teen/adult fantasy fiction book 'Godstone' and 'Unlocking the Bible':

Godstone - The Kairos Boxes

Unlocking the Bible Omnibus: A Unique Overview of the Whole Bible

I remember Keith Green from way back. Loved his music then - forgot about it - and loving it again. This ablum has all the songs you remember and a few more.

Every song is so vibrant on this CD. What a difference after a tape! We sing at the top of our lungs and enjoy some of the new songs that were released. It is good to hear Keith's soul in each and every song. If you've heard Keith in the past you will love this CD.

Kieth Green was a great talent that wrapped Christian music with a touch of humor. That song," So you want go back to Egypt" made me laugh.Yet is written covering actual events. Each song he sang though is serious talent. He died in an overloaded plane several years ago.

I am completely satisfied with Keith Green's, the Greatest Hits, selection. I especially like his song, Create in Me A Clean Heart.

I was part of the Jesus Movement in its waning years of the late `70s & early `80s. Keith Green died in 1982, so his music takes me back to a piece of my history.

4.0 out of 5 stars Less than expected, but not a total loss..., May 3, 2008

I rated this four stars strictly due to the fact that it's Keith Green, any thing Keith Green is worth at least four stars. My problem with this release is that it, along with the live album and DVD appear to be the two albums that were talked about last August, but the problem with that, is that those albums were hyped at the time as if they would be two albums of songs we'd never heard before. They really gave us the impression that they had a bunch of songs that were not ready to be released until the technology was available to do them justice and now was that time.

As it turns out, there is only one truly unheard song between both of these albums, the rest are all songs that have been previously released in one form or another. For the most part, it's just that many of these songs are taken from live performances, but there is certainly nothing "New" about them. This was a big disappointment to me, who really thought we were in store for maybe up to 20 unheard Keith Green songs. They could have at least added the song "Born Again", which has been floating around out there for a while, but as far as I know has never been part of a Keith Green compilation.

So in the end, it leaves me to wonder if this is all there really was, and if so, I wish they would have been clear about that early on, rather than leading us to believe they had something they didn't really have. On the other hand, if there is more, why did they do it this way? Are they going to piece them out to us in a never ending parade of best of and live albums? I sure hope that's not the plan. I really hope that Melody and EMI will be straight with us and let us know what they really do or do not have and if they do have something, give it an honest release.

As for the one truly "new" song that is on here titled "Your Love Came Over Me", it's a pretty good song, not one of his best, but pretty good. It's a bit rockier than most of his stuff, which was nice to hear and if it and "Born Again" (which was one of his best) are the only two "new" songs to be found, they will be treasured for sure.
