5.0 out of 5 stars A surprising excellent Compilation
I'm not a big fan of Greatest Hits or Best of Compiliations but I was blown away when I heard this CD. 2.0 out of 5 stars Not originals - new versions
I had been missing my Canadian rock so I ordered Greatest Hits. I was disappointed. It was new versions of Patio Lanterns, All We Are and Lager and Ale. Not that they are all bad, but I wanted the actual hits, not live versions or re-recordings.

This is a must for every Kim Mitchell fan because it has different versions of Rockland Wonderland, Patio Lanterns, Expedition Sailor and Lager and Ale. No More Walking Away is one of Kim's best ballads. His new album "Kimosabe" is in record stores in Canada, Buffalo, Detroit and anywhere along the Canadian Border. When is it going to be available on Amazon.com

5.0 out of 5 stars kim mitchell is a canadian-guitar-rockin'-god, September 4, 1999
By A Customer
to all you kids out there interested in a Kim Mitchell compulation this be the one to get. Kim is little known to our neighbours south of the boarder but his rock'n roll guitar wizardry is magnificent. Try out a title or two from the various samples listed on amazon.com network and give them a listen. On selections like "battle scar" you Rush fans will notice the voice of their great lead vocalist. The "greatest hits" album is a nice sampling of the Mitchell experience but songs like "Hullaballo" on the CD "Oral Fixations" and "That's the Hold" on "Shakin' like a Human Being" are songs you won't sample on the greatest hits CD and are some of his best tunes. Overall the greatest hits collection will give you a good taste of things to come. I'm a tad biased in my review but I've been a lifelong fan. I am a wild party.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of Canada's Best Secrets, December 6, 2005
First with the group Max Webster and then on his own, Kim Mitchell never received proper airplay across a lot of Canada much less anywhere else. He is a southern (Sarnia) Ontario icon and I've had the privilege a number of times to see him live. The album list is a fairly good representation of Kim's solo career. Its a shame that there are no real player or other samples to listen to as I'm sure that there would be quite a few converts to his music. Overall a good compilation.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fans will enjoy but this isn't his "Greatest Hits", August 29, 2009

This review is from: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)

Growing up in Montreal, I was a big fan of Kim Mitchell's group MAX WEBSTER. And, to me, Kim Mitchell's solo albums were even better.

As a big fan of Kim Mitchell I've got most of his CDs, so what interested me most about this compilation were the previously unreleased "No More Walking Away" and the different versions of old songs ("Rockland Wonderland", "Expedition Sailor", "Lager and Ale" and "Patio Lanterns"). I think Kim Mitchell fans who already have his other CDs will enjoy this one for the new material.

This compilation is a bit of a problem, however, for people who are looking for just one Kim Mitchell CD with his best. Because of the alternate versions, it isn't really his "greatest hits." Also, one of Kim Mitchell's best tunes was "Feel It Burn" from his AKIMBO ALOGO album. The absence of "Feel It Burn" from this compilation is a glaring omission.

Kim Mitchell rocks!!!
i can honestly say, being one of the lucky people up here in Buffalo, New York. We grew up with Canadian rock Kim, Rush, Brian Adams etc... In Buffalo we can listen to Kim live every day, on q107, seeing as we are only 1 hour 1/2 out of Toronto.
his famouse "Damn! I wish i wrote that is a hit!!!
Great tunes on this CD, I swear if Kim would have marketed more his commercial stuff, he would have been huge! Even though as a guitar player i like the Max Webster just as much. This guy is a great guitar player, vocalist and song writer!.
When he comes here next week, I think i might tell him that!
rock on!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Tunes, Great Sound, April 25, 2000

The Toronto Maple Leafs were lifeless when playing the Ottawa Senators this April, when my friends and I decided that it was time during the second period break to put on this Kim Mitchell album. The song we chose was Rockland Wonderland. Well guess what, the Leafs came alive and defeated the Senators and we were convinced that we had something to do with it. No really folks this is a great party album, with rock anthems that are also great songs. Energetic music with a great groove and as well good musicianship. Money well spent.
