Editorial Reviews

2007 two CD anthology, released to coincide with the 30th Anniversary of Marc Bolan's untimely death at the age of 29. From his big '70s Glam Rock hits like 'Get It On', 'Telegram Sam', 'Metal Guru', 'Hot Love' and 'Ride A White Swan' to lesser known hits and album tracks like 'Cosmic Dancer', 'Jeepster', 'Laser Love', 'Born To Boogie' and others, Bolan had a knack for taking basic Rock 'N' Roll and adding a bit of magic, creating a style that was uniquely his own. This collection not only contains the absolute best of T.Rex but also a handful of cuts recorded in the band's late '60s 'hippie' incarnation as Tyrannosaurus Rex. 40 tracks. UMTV.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best T. Rex compilation, not including box sets, January 15, 2008

This is it T. Rex fans and those curious to learn about Marc Bolan and T. Rex. This is the BEST compilation that's out there if you don't want to splurge for the 20th Century Superstar box set or all the individual albums. If you want to know why T. Rex was as popular as the Beatles everywhere (except the U.S.) check this album out---unfortunately it hasn't been issued (yet I hope) in the U.S. and is only available as an import. If you listen to the first 7 or 8 tracks and you're not hooked--you don't love rock and roll. This has all the hits, should have been hits (post 1974), rarities (like the great Raw Ramp) and early tracks from Bolan's folkish Tyrannosaurus Rex period. Attention: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominating committee: GET THIS ALBUM...really listen to it..note how great and enjoyable it is...then note all the bands old and brand new who have stolen ideas from the genius Marc Bolan...then put Marc Bolan in the Hall of Fame in 2009. If you don't, you can't really be called a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Compilation, May 23, 2011
This review is from: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
With this 2 CD compilation you have virtually everything essential with Marc Bolan and T. Rex, especially if you add the excellent original albums "Electric Warrior" and "The Slider" to your collection.

Although the numbers are not placed in chronological order the CD's give a good overview of the group's relatively short career, and it is apparent that the good numbers came easiest to Bolan during 1970-1972.

The sound is fine and it is a pleasure to re-hear the old hits, but also the lesser known b-sides and album tracks.
