5.0 out of 5 stars classic southern rock
being the niece of the lead guitarist of Molly Hatchet, i have grown up knowing and loving the great songs like Gator Country and Flirtin' with Disaster. Molly Hatchet is one of the classic examples of good southern rock, and it continues to live on in the newer generation of music. i love this album!

3.0 out of 5 stars old songs good, new songs lacking.
I'm a country rock and roller. The newer songs on this album really stink. But when you have classics such as Gator Country,Dreams i'll never see,Whiskey Man & Fall of the peacemakers how can you go wrong. The older songs save this album,Therefore i give it 3 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Underrated band, May 16, 1999

Molly Hatchet is southern rock at its best. There is not a bad song on this entire album. I wasn't even a big Hatchet fan until I bought this album. Now they are in my top 10 favorite bands of all time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Oldies of Southern Rock!, March 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I`ve heard a lot of these songs on the radio but never knew what group it was.(Dj`s never said on the radio, they assume that you already knew) They played at the Clermont(a small city in Florida) 125th year Anniversary party and I was "hooked". My favorite is Beatin` the odds, but all songs on this CD are great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely Not Skynyrd?, May 18, 2007
What's your point? I don't think southern rock is supposed to be broken down and looked at that critically. If it makes you feel good listening, it's good music. And this is. Even though some may think they could've found a better vocalist, I for one don't think so. That's their signature. I love it. Great music for drinking and getting rowdy.

2.0 out of 5 stars at best mediocre, January 29, 2003
Molly Hatchet is not Lynyrd Skynyrd or Blackfoot, but they play so called "southern rock". Sometimes they actually manage to write a good song (like "Fall of the peacemakers") but most of the time they display low talent (or lack of effort) in that department. Molly Hatchet like other bands have changed their line up over the years but they have never been able to recruit a great singer and I don't think these guys are under rated in any way. And who the hell choose their album covers? They're better suited for Manowar...

By the way, this record is no longer in my collection...
