5.0 out of 5 stars Light Anotha One Up, Eh?
"Good morning class, class SHUUUUT UP!" This cd is so funny, Cheech & Chong are by far my favorite comedy duo. Out all their cd's this has to be my favorite. If your a C&C fanatic like me, you need to get this! Tracks:
1. Dave - This is probably their funniest piece of all the time. It's about a man who is waiting for his drug dealer, and forgets the dealer's name...

CHEECH & CHONG-GREATEST HIT: Don't know what the compilers of this weak excuse for a career overview were smokin' at the time, but somethin' sure smells unfunny. Rock n' roll's unofficial counterculture spokesmen of the 70's and their legions of fans deserve higher grade stuff than this.
It's about a man who is waiting for his drug dealer, and forgets the dealer's name! "Dave's not here" 5/5 stars
2. Earache My Eye - Awesome and very catchy song. It's about a teenage drag queen rocker who is trying to make it big. I remember this from back then, and I still laugh when I hear it. 5/5 stars
3. Let's Make A Dope Deal - A very clever bit about a game show, where people can win illegal drugs if they repond to questions the host asks them. "Makes your eyes just red thinking about it!" 4/5 stars
4. Basketball Jones - A down right funny song about a black teenager named Tyrone Shoelaces, who is obsessed with basketball. The beat is catchy and will have humming "I got a basketball jones", before you know it! 5/5 stars
5. Blind Melon Chitlin - A quirky little piece about a dumb blues singer who is not performing a song correctly, due to his half-witted record producers. The last part, will have you laughing out loud for hours! 4/5 stars
6. Sister Mary Elephant - Quite a nice little piece indeed! It's the story about a nun with a funny name, who snaps out "SHUUUUT UP!" And then says thank you as if she was never upset in the first place. I'll never forget this 5/5 stars
7. Sargent Stadanko - The continuing saga of Sister Mary Elephant and newly introduced drug enforcement man, who attempts to warn the class (who is already half high) about the dangers of drugs. "Only dopes use dope!" 5/5 stars
8. Dave Part 2 - Not much to say, just part 2 of the classic "Dave's not here!" routine. 5/5 stars
9. Cruisin With Pedro De Pacas - One of the best examples of Cheech and Chong being themselves. "Hey man look at all the lights!" 5/5 stars
10. The Continuing Adventures of Pedro and Man - Not as funny as Pedro and man's first appearance but still pretty funny. "Hey man look what you did to my hair!" "Actually that's kinda hip" 3/5 stars
11. Pedro and Man At the Drive-Inn - The wonderful comeback of their comedy. Pedro and Man go to the movies and forget about guys they have locked in the trunk of the "La Bamba" car. It's very long, but still tells a good story. The part where Chong goes to the other car and finds the man, is just to good to be true! 5/5 stars
12. Trippin in Court - Not one their best, but still it's worth a listen. The part with the redneck at the beginning is the best. "You facist pigs!" 3/5 stars

No doubt about this has to be one C&C's best cd's ever! Pick it up, it will give you an hour of some pretty decent belly laughs. You just gotta have it, man!

2.0 out of 5 stars BUZZ OFF, August 27, 2011

CHEECH & CHONG-GREATEST HIT: Don't know what the compilers of this weak excuse for a career overview were smokin' at the time, but somethin' sure smells unfunny. Rock n' roll's unofficial counterculture spokesmen of the 70's and their legions of fans deserve higher grade stuff than this. A shortened version of the classic DAVE opens the album, then fades out, only to resurface briefly seven cuts later, STILL leaving off the punchline! Hit single EARACHE MY EYE is similarly chopped in half, giving you the Alice Bowie rock tune parody, but omitting the much funnier confrontation between "Daddy" and "Junior". There's far too much PEDRO AND THE MAN (over twenty minutes) spread throughout three tracks, leaving no room for such missing singles as BLOAT ON, a gluttonous remake of soul hit FLOAT ON, and BORN IN EAST L.A., the duo's jab at The Boss. At least smart-aleck smashes SISTER MARY ELEPHANT and BASKETBALL JONES survive intact, and blooze singer Blind Melon Chitlin' makes a welcome appearance. The same can't be said for quite a few other fondly remembered C & C routines...to quote Chong, "That's a drag, Man!"

RATING: TWO TOKES

4.0 out of 5 stars Cheech & Chong: Classic Comedy 101, July 27, 2009

Before their movies there were their comedy albums. And "Cheech & Chong's Greatest Hit" is a great introduction to their genius.

It has to be good. I lent this album to a coworker many years ago. Unfortunately they quit and I never got this back. If theft is any indication then this is full of quality tracks from their other albums. What's helpful is that where each track came from is mentioned within the notes.

Aside from a truncated version of "Earache My Eye" it's still a great listen. In fact, they managed to have the epic "Pedro and Man at the Drive-In" skit (presented as part of a "Pedro & Man" trilogy on this album) so I can't figure why they'd cut about half off of "Earache". But with so much great C&C comedy album material it's by far much better to get the albums themselves. When you realize that C&C was much more than a couple of stoners and more about presenting many hilarious characters you'll find that the movies wind up falling short of the excellence of their albums. It's very funny stuff and the meager track selection is just right.

I'd recommend this C&C compilation to the newbies. But, once you become hooked to this you'll want to grab their other albums as well.

Now if you excuse me, as Blind Melon Chitlin' sez, "I'm goin' down town to see my girl...gonna sing her a song..."

1.0 out of 5 stars Severely Disappointing, May 15, 2010

Looking at the track listing, I thought this would be a good overview, lacking only "Santa Claus and His Ol' Lady" in the track listing. BUT - "Earache My Eye", while listed, IS NOT HERE! The intro, featuring Alice Bowie (actually George Harrison, I'm told) IS here, but the Earache routine is cut out entirely. The "Dave" bit is incomplete. There is no booklet or information other than the track listing. Surprisingly pathetic for the usually-reliable Rhino. It's too bad there is no reputable compilation on these comedy innovators. This one is SAD!!!

I bought this CD as a gift and they were really excited to receive it. However when it got to his favorite song, Earache My Eye, it was only the song not the skit! He was really bummed. Other than that it was great and he had an awesome time listening to it.
