This CD is a 1995 reissue of a 1978 2 LP compilation that Gusto released and it features among its 20 songs, many of his major hits including "Phantom 309," "Giddy-Up-Go," "Little Rosa," "Teddy Bear," and "I Didn't Jump The Fence." All of the other songs are just as timeless as the hits are and they include "Daddy's Girl." There aren't many people who combined honky tonk, trucker's country and poetry in the same mix and this is some of the most reflective and at the same time haunting music to ever appear in country music, and it was Hank Williams who inspired Red to be in the music business and he did record the "Luke The Drifter" songs as a tribute to Hank. Like Hank's "Beyond The Sunset" CD, this is classic country and recitations at their best. Woodrow Wilson Sovine has been missed by his many fans but his memory and his music will live on forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Red Sovine is the king of Honky Tonk Truckin' country!, April 1, 2000

Anything by Red Sovine is considered a masterpiece. This CD is no exception. I was fortunate as a child to have met Red Sovine. He performed at a show that my school was sponsoring, and my father had the responsibility of picking Mr. Sovine up from the airport. On the drive back from the airport, Red talked about the origins of the song "Phantom 309". Red let me sit in on one his radio interviews with a local station. He even let me carry his guitar case! Another thing I distinctly remember was those black rimmed eyeglasses. He was truly a fine gentleman and a class act. In my opinion, there will never be another country performer to match the artistic ability of Red Sovine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Red Sovine- King of Trucker Country, October 10, 1999
Red Sovine sang the great ol' truck drivin' and cryin' songs better than anyone else I know of. "Teddy Bear" still gets me; so does "Little Rosa."

This is a great cd and I as a child with my sister would listen to this over and over because the song "Daddy's Girl" is my sister and my favorite song of all time.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Of The Truly Greats, October 18, 2000
Red Sovine is without doubt one of the truly great old time entertainers. My grandfather actually played with Red Sovine once in Cincinnati at the Saturday night country jam and he said you never seen so many people laugh and cry at the same time. That was the magic of Red. You just can't go wrong with any of Red Sovine's music.
