This is a fun dance album!,

Remembered hearing this album in 1995. Though she only recorded a few albums, she made quite an impact in the'80s, the same time that Madonna and Janet Jackson had numerous dance hits. A few songs were rerecorded for this album to get it out of some dated 80s sounds. Two of Hearts I love 20 years later in 2006, but it's no contest to the solid trio of songs 11, 12 and 13. The Model (with its galloping rumbling groove, and rare usage of rock guitars), Video Girl (with its Cars-inspired groove and sounding as if you're driving up and down a hill) and Music's Gone (my favorite on here, very addictive in the rhythms, and wow, how they play those keyboards so high on the bridge, how they crescendo so way up as on a high mountain!)--undeniably catchy keyboard/synthesizer heavy songs that's definitely '80s! Could rival any 10-member live band of musicians, which I do like. They sound so catchy and fun today. We Connect suffers from copying Two of Hearts' similar groove too much and it would have sounded perfect for Madonna. I wouldn't call it Greatest Hits--she did only a few albums and I heard her mostly in 1986. She had a thin voice similar to Paula Abdul, music somewhat parallel to Madonna's dance grooves, but they blended well with the high energy dance numbers. I'd get this CD again if I wanted to! You could be playing these songs 40 to 50 to 100 times and not get tired of it--some very catchy, creatively done, dance pop!

It's not that bad....but,

Stacey Swain deserves some credit along with Jon St. James for the sound of dance music today. Early SSQ had ideas in sampeling and driving rhythms that other "top" performers picked up way later. My only problem with this package is the remakes of songs from the Playback album which is impossible to find now. Stacey added a very sultry kick to these tunes and if you want something different to dance to instead of the status quo give it a try.

WARNING: NOT the original versions of Two Of Hearts, We Connect, Insecurity...Remixes,

When I was in highschool STACEY Q came out with the album (vinyl!) BETTER THAN HEAVEN. That album had three popular songs on it: Two Of Hearts, We Connect and Insecurity.
Fast foward to modern day times: I decideed I wanted to buy STACEY Q's Greatest Hits to get those tracks, as well as some of her hard to find SSQ stuff like Screaming In My Pillow and Synthicide. So I bought this cd. The cd is pretty good...Definately gonna find some rarer Stacey stuff here you weren't gonna find anywhere ese.... ...BUT....I do feel compelled to warn you that on this cd the versions of Two Of Hearts, Insecurity and We Connect are all remixes. If you want the original versions of these songs you are better off getting the Better Than Heaven cd. By the way: Better than Heaven was a pretty good song too! And it's not ON here! What up with THAT?! So all in all STACEY Q's Greatest hits is a pretty good dance album.....light and airy 80s pop music, nothing really "deep", but a lot of fun!

I enjoyed this album! It's a good collection of some of Stacey's best tracks. The beats kick and she has a good dance music voice. If you're looking for some classic pop music, give Q a try. And, if you do like Stacey Q, I'd pick up NIGHTS LIKE THIS as well - there are some great songs on there that don't appear on GREATEST HITS.

Stacey Q is one of dances underrated artists, she has such alovely voice its hard to believe that shes not a bigger star than she was. This greatest hits package has some great sounds like "we connect" and great electro Kraftwerk/Afrika bambatta old skool sounds like"big electronic beat".Stacey Q blends the mix of old skool retro dance/electro/latin freestyle/and pop synthisizers which equals up to an alternatve dance album, that is often overlooked because of its unique style. This is great album for your dance collection, especially if you love freestyle or electro dance.

Exellent!,

Yes, the title could more accurately have been "Stacey Q's Only Hit." Apart from semantics this is a wonderful collection, evidently composed of pre-Better Than Heaven tracks that otherwise never got to the general public.
The first several songs are remixes from Better Than Heaven. The music is more complex without smothering Swain's voice, resulting in truly beautiful tracks. Some of the songs have an eerie quality which departs considerably from the established "Stacey Q" sound. "Video Girl" in particular adds a dreaminess which I found compelling. The song "Screaming in My Pillow" is noteworthy for being as close to raunchy as Stacey Q has gotten. It's a bit funny to hear how the writer danced all around the word "sex" without ever being crass enough to use it. This is an excellent addition to my library, and I hope the Stacey Q team has more songs waiting to be released.

Divas to the dance floor...,

Stacey Q has to be one of the most underappreciated dance/pop vocalists of the last 2 decades. The music she has created has been some of the quirkiest yet sultriest dance music out there. This package gives die hard fans and new listeners a chance to hear some rare Q tracks as well as classics. High nrg dance music at its best, this cd boasts some great songs like the dance versions of "Insecurity" and "Love or Desire" as well as the infamous "Two Of Hearts (95)."

I see a lot of griping about this disc, but everyone is missing the point: you can get her Atlantic stuff easily on Amazon or Ebay... this CD is a great way to get her early solo singles as well as her singles with Q and SSQ. "Screaming In My Pillow" and "Synthicide" are great Berlin/Missing Persons LA-style new wave, and "Playback" is just great!
Anyone who really loves Stacey Q should own this.... the other posers should stop whining and go buy a Totally 80s comp.

If you liked Better Than Heaven, you'll like this. The remixes are worth having, and the early material is good. This was a talented outfit, ahead of their time.
