P.O.D. : Leaving behind a legacy and pushing forward towards Victory,
By
This review is from: Greatest Hits: The Atlantic Years (Audio CD)
P.O.D. is perfect music for when you are exercising, playing games, or just need a good rush of blood to your head. They rock hard and do it with style and substance. They have a passion for what they do that is unmatched and certainly makes up for the times when the band has blended a little too seamlessly into the mainstream music scene. This record is half Marcos and half Truby. (Marcos is the original guitarist and Truby took over when he left.) The two styles are very different and quite frankly I still miss the way Marcos picked those carefully carved out melodies and Truby falls back a little too easily on Drop D barre chords. They both bring something different to the table and that gives P.O.D. alot of diversity and yes even some originality in the way they blend so many differnt styles of music. This movie isn't pretentious or artsy its hard rock; plain and simple. If you dig deeper you will even find some soul in the mix.I've seen P.O.D. three times and they continue to impress me with the way they connect to the audience. They love being on stage and they love their audience. That is rare and I wish them continued success. This CD will give you all the P.O.D. you need and then some.

Atlantic Years,

This review is from: Greatest Hits: The Atlantic Years (Audio CD)
This is a great compilation during their time with Atlantic Records. They're only missing "School of Hard Knocks" from the Little Nicky soundtrack which was hit when it came out and this would of been 100% complete if this cd had this song. I also should of mention that they have two photos of Truby and only 1 with Marcos. They probably rushed this compilation out but they should of have made it even between the two musicians because they are both great guitar players! Thats pretty much my complaint about this disc. The Best Buy exclusive came with the out of print of their "Warriors EP Vol. 1" cd. Perfect for those who's just starting to hear and wanting to know all about P.O.D..Including 2 new songs "Going In Blind" and "Here We Go." It also has some fine liner notes too! A Must Have for hardcore fans of POD! Jah Love and be blessed always!

A Great Collection of Tunes!,

This review is from: Greatest Hits: The Atlantic Years (Audio CD)
P.O.D. seems to have been one of those bands that got bashed from the day they formed the group. Why you ask?, well simply because they wrote music with a good/enlightening message instead of the usual doom and gloom most bands write about. The Atlantic Years is just that, some of the most memorable songs the band has released since their hit making 1999 record The Fundamental Elements of Southtown. This compilation provides us the listener with a look back at what this band was about during their time with Atlantic. Their is no doubt that this band has had it's fair share of ups downs musically not to mention internally with the loss of their original guitarist following their popular album Satellite. The Atlantic Years hits package doesn't feel thrown together in the least bit. The record includes one brand new song recorded especially for this album as well as a previously unreleased song. These additions really add to the overall enjoyment of this cd. Since P.O.D. doesn't really have as many hits as their are tracks on this cd, you might find some filler here and there so to speak. Even though some may consider the lesser tunes to be filler, they have picked ones that really do the band justice. So in turn, you can say that the entire cd is a very well thought out listen. The rest of the record is a healthy mix of tracks from four studio records with Satellite securing the most selections from one album. The Atlantic Years may not be the be all end all of P.O.D.'s existence, but it's a darn good start! Check it out!
