Editorial Reviews

N.W.A.'s Greatest Hits is a greatest hits album originally released on July 2, 1996. The re-released version contains two bonus tracks by the reunited group. The track "Chin Check" was recorded by Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, MC Ren and Snoop Dogg under the N.W.A name for the soundtrack of Next Friday. "Hello" first appeared on Ice Cube's sixth studio album War & Peace - Volume 2 (The Peace Disc) and featured Dr. Dre & MC Ren. N.W.A.'s career isn't necessarily one that lends itself well to anthologies. Though they had important singles, especially in the underground hip-hop community in the late '80s, they never received any support from radio or MTV, which meant they never had any official "hits." Instead, their albums were more important, popular, and influential, than their singles, even if individual tracks - "Fuck tha Police, " "Straight Outta Compton, " "Gangsta Gangsta, " "Express Yourself" - became the focus of attention. And, if you notice, all those songs were from Straight Outta Compton: the only good album the group ever made

This is a CD of gangsta anthems that keep your feet bumpin' an' stuff.... like I know, I am a small town white boy... but I can't stop listenning to F**k that Police and Straight Outta Compton... There are other raps that I realized where genius in their genre such as Express Yourself and Compton's in the House, but Just don't bite it and some of the other screwin' b**ches raps get to be a little too much. It is a lot of fun, but I often find myself turning to Public Enemy when I am done to cleanse my soul.

IF YOU'D LIKE TO JUST GET ALL OF THE N.W.A SONGS YOU LOVE WITHOUT HAVING TO COLLECT ALL OF THE OLD N.W.A ALBUMS, THIS CD IS FOR YOU. THIS COLLECTION IS ALMOST PERFECT, BUT, LIKE ALMOST EVERY OTHER GREATEST HITS CD, IT'S MISSING A FEW TRACKS. MISSING IN THIS COLLECTION ARE ''8 BALL'', ''DOPEMAN'' AND ''SA PRIZE''. OTHER THAN THAT, THIS IS A GREAT COLLECTION FROM THE WORLD'S MOST DANGEROUS GROUP. IF WE'RE LUCKY, WE MIGHT HEAR A NEW ALBUM FROM N.W.A ONE DAY. THIS VERSION OF THE GREATEST HITS CD HAS THE 2 N.W.A REUNION TRACKS, WHICH ARE ''HELLO'' AND ''CHIN CHECK''.

I got blown away listening to this! I love it. The whole CD is good - I like especially like F*** Tha Police, Straight Outta Compton, Express Yourself (Remix), 100 Miles and Running, and Just Don't Bite it. This is what I call real rap. Get rid of those Nelly and Big Tymers CDs and pick up some N.W.A stuff. Also, pick up some LL Cool J CDs, too. R.I.P Eazy E. I like a lot of other rap stuff, but this is the best CD I own -- No doubt. Buy it -- If you're offended with the music, don't buy it. Hey -- I'm only 12 and I get all of this stuff. Once again, pick it up.

N.W.A is one of my favorites rap groups of all time. They picked some great tracks to be on here. If i would rate this 1 out of 10, i would give it a hundred. Just a pure Gangsta rap cd, to be remembered for the ages. But now we have fakes like 50 cent,g-unit, Etc.There will be know other group like NWA.Im not gonna tell you what my favorites are, because they are all good. For the people into this pop rap crap, get this cd.It it we'll change your life, like it did mine. RIP Eric (Eazy-E) Wright

Why bother? They only had one creatively vibrant & commercial succesful album - "Straight Outta Compton" - which also has all of their notable songs. You're much better off with that than this, which just takes the highlights of "Compton" and mixes them with sub-par material from their other albums.

Before "Dr. Dre", "Eazy-E", and "Ice Cube", there was "N.W.A.". Of course this group included all those guys, and "M.C. Ren" and "D.J. Yella". They were probably more responsible for starting the "gangsta rap" thing, than even that pimp "Ice-T". This collection misses a few tracks, but it does include "Straight Outta Compton", "Express Yourself", "I Ain't The One", and "Gangsta Gangsta". Plus the huge hit "F*** Tha Police", which was pretty controvertial and hardcore when it came out. Overall it's a great sampling of "N.W.A.", and a real sign of the times. It'll go great with your "Public Enemy" and "Run-DMC" albums.
