5.0 out of 5 stars Style and fire make this album a must have!
If you enjoy a combination of country and light rock this album is for you. This cd brings together a colmunation of Doug Stone's greatest country and rock songs. "I was to busy being in love", written by one of his lead guitarists has topped the light rock charts as has "Why didn't I think of that". The simple words of love stir your heart...

3.0 out of 5 stars Should be named "Some of his Hits"
When will the record companies do the right thing and make a cd with all the great songs on it? I will gladly pay more for more songs. I just hate having to buy two "greatest Hits" or "Super Hits" to get all the sogs that I want when there are duplicate songs on them. The cd itself is great..all the songs are worth listening to, but again, these are just "some" of his...

If you enjoy a combination of country and light rock this album is for you. This cd brings together a colmunation of Doug Stone's greatest country and rock songs. "I was to busy being in love", written by one of his lead guitarists has topped the light rock charts as has "Why didn't I think of that". The simple words of love stir your heart while the music stirs your feet. You can not help but grab the one you love and start dancing. Additionally, songs like "Little Houses", takes you back to the days when your own family was just starting out, or reminds you of the things you look foward to are you begin your life with the one you love. This album mates creativity with love, and passion with humor giving you just a taste of the flare that Doug Stone has with words and music. A must have for both rock and country fans alike!

5.0 out of 5 stars Combine them!!, April 7, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 (Audio CD)
All of Doug Stone's songs put out were hits! I enjoy both albums, but both "Greatest Hits Vol. 1" and "Super Hits" should just be combined! That would be the ultimate greatest hits album. Theres only 10 songs on each cd, if combined, removing repeated tracks, there would be about 17...they really should!

Beau premier greatest hits de cet artiste de country-music. Je viens de le découvrir. A apparemment, il chante des chansons intimistes et plutôt jolies. Il faut continuer à compiler cet artiste. C'est très agréable à écouter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent country ballads, April 17, 2011
This review is from: Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 (Audio CD)
Doug Stone had fifteen top ten country hits altogether, with two other hits getting close to the top ten, two other top twenty hits and three minor hits. At the time of this album's original release, Doug was still at the peak of his career. Here you will find nine of his first eleven hits, all of which came from his first three albums and all of which made the top ten with four of them (In a different light, A jukebox with a country song, Too busy being in love, Why didn't I think of that) going to number one. You also get one track (Little houses) released to promote the album, which become another top ten hit. Doug's debut single (I'd be better off in a pine box) is a very sad song but it remains my favorite among his songs. While not all of his songs are sad, that single showed just how well Doug could sing ballads, and these are mostly what he sticks to.

Two early big hits not featured here ((Fourteen minutes old, These lips don't know how to say goodbye) can be found on his debut album Doug Stone, while his three other top ten hits (I never knew love, Addicted to a dollar, More love) originally appeared on fourth album More love. I expect the plan was to include these tracks on a second volume of greatest hits, but such a volume never appeared. In the absence of a more comprehensive compilation, this ten-track collection remains the best available collection of Doug Stone's music.

One of my favorite of the more "traditional" male country vocalists, this cd will take ya back to when country was still country! Not like this fluff of today right? lol This Cd was exactly as described and came very quickly. With many great hits like "Warning Labels," "Come In Out Of the Pain,", Don't be "Too Busy Being In Love" and miss this wonderful collection, or you'll be left wondering "Why didn't I Think Of That?"

I have been a big fan of Doug's from way back when..... I was not aware he had been so seriously ill and that is why I had not heard anything new from him in the past few years.

I have just about every ablum he has done and love all of them.

Well, he has a new CD "My Turn" and it is really good too. I do enjoy his earlier stuff but I am that way with most artist. Thats just me!

This review is from: Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 (Audio CD)
Doug Stone Was One Of The Best Country Music Artists Of The 1990's. His Singnituare Hit "A Jukebox With Country Song" Is One Of His Best Hits Today. People Request The Song Over The Radio. It Is One Of My Favorites. "I'd Be Better Off In A Pine Box" Was His First Hit. Other Hits That Made This Guy A Superstar Are: "I Thought It Was You", "Come In Out Of The Pain", "Too Busy Bein'In Love", "Made For Loving You", "Why Didn't I Think Of That", And "Little Houses". Those Are All Great Songs To Listen To.
