The Greatest From Aqua - So Far....., August 1, 2009
This review is from: Greatest Hits (2009) (incl. new tracks) (Audio CD)
Aqua returns from a 8-year hiatus with their latest release yet, a compilation album featuring digitally remastered tracks from their "Aquarium" and "Aquarius" LP's along with three brand-new songs.
The new tracks include "Back to the 80's", a catchy, cheery song that pays homage to the culture of the 1980's, "My Momma Said", a somber and slower-paced synth song that relates to the passing of one's mother, and "Live Fast Die Young", a song describing the life of living fast and fancy-free. The greatest thing about these tracks is that the style varies from one to the next - one fits Aqua's style from "Aquarium", the next from "Aquarius", while the last pushes Aqua into the realm of the new while still remaining comfortable in the style of Lene's album "Play With Me".
The older tracks include the majority of their singles, including "Barbie Girl", "Turn Back Time", "Doctor Jones", "Lollipop", "Cartoon Heroes", though "Good Morning Sunshine" is absent. For the included songs that were never released for airplay include "Freaky Friday", "Goodbye to the Circus", "Be a Man", and "Aquarius".
As for packaging, the CD isn't in a jewel case - it is rather in a paper case, which is more prone to damage. However, more CD's are being released this way, so it is more of a trend in the music industry than anything else. However, the materials included with the CD is great - it shows new pictures of the group dressed in classical European clothing - powered wigs and dress, to be specific. It includes classic poses of all of the members of the band as well as a photo montage of pictures from Aqua's history. As a plus, lyrics are included with the CD booklet, so one can finally understand what Lene says nears the end of "Live Fast Die Young".
Overall, the CD is a great purchase - I just recently got this album in the mail yesterday and love it. I gave the album 4/5 stars, mostly because of concerns with the CD packaging and the lack of even more new material on the album. Despite the price, I would recommend this to friends and family, because the music is great, cheerful, and upbeat - and if you've damaged or lost your old Aqua CD's, you can get the best from them here for a decent price, with new material to boot.
EDIT ON AUGUST 16, 2009: Fixed an error with the track listing. "Be a Man" is included on this album, not "Good Guys" which I previously stated. Sorry for any confusion this may has caused.

Best Aqua album there is!, November 23, 2009
This review is from: Greatest Hits (2009) (incl. new tracks) (Audio CD)
This is by far the greatest album! It includes all of their smash hits, and you gata love "Back to the Eighties", if not, then you are apparently not from that generation and can't appreciate the skinny ties and the Don Johnson look.

"Aqua Classics", August 8, 2011
This review is from: Greatest Hits (2009) (incl. new tracks) (Audio CD)
"Greatest Hits" by Aqua is very well assembled and contains many fun pop hits. This collection has many happy and fun musical tracks to listen to (such as "Barbie Girl", "Happy Boys and Girls", and "Back to the 80's"). My two favorite songs on this cd are "Lollipop" and "Around the World" (the music videos to both of these songs are also very good). "Lollipop" is a catchy and risqué love song about a love interest that is captivating (the space themed musical video is very humorous). "Around the World" is a high-energy musical track that is about someone that has been a part of many experiences during their worldwide travels (the spy-themed music video to "Around the World" is very riveting). Aqua's greatest hits is best to get for music lovers of the dance and/or dance/pop genres.
