5.0 out of 5 stars Nobody Rocks Like The Supersuckers, March 9, 2000
By
Rob N. (Seattle, Wa, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Greatest Rock & Roll Band in the World (Audio CD)
How the Supersuckers never became as popular in the 90's as other Seattle bands (that I won't mention) is a complete mystery. This CD is perfect for those who love to rock out but haven't been turned on to the Supersuckers. The first half are well-picked outtakes from their studio albums and the second are b-sides and other gems. Besides all their staples, their version of Ice Cube's "Dead Homiez" is out of the blue and simply awesome (and hilarious). Also, their cover of Keith Richard's "Before They Make Me Run" with Steve Earl on vocals actually blows away the original (which I already loved). In short, if you have any doubts, buy this album, you will not be disappointed. Then buy their new one and go see them live. You may have to sell your soul to Satan somewhere in the process but that's ok, it's worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars they must've been high, March 1, 2006
This review is from: Greatest Rock & Roll Band in the World (Audio CD)
We can only pray that someday America will awaken from its cultural slumber and realize that the Supersuckers and Rocket From the Crypt were two of the best yet criminally underrated rock bands of the 1990s (and early 00s). Both brought punk back to its rock 'n' roll roots with tongue firmly lodged in cheek, and in an era shoe-gazing whiny emo rockers they put on a damn good live show. The Supersuckers' Sacrlicious Sounds Of .. . and their "country" album, Must've Been High, are classics waiting to be rediscovered, so go out and get them now so you can lie to all your lame-ass hipster friends and tell them you were way into the Supersuckers way back when. Or get this one, which includes most of the best songs from those two albums plus their earlier punk stuff and the ironic genius of their cover of "Dead Homiez."

how good is it? good enough to get me to completely forget a pointless, dead-end crush for a few hours. i think i wore out the CD listening to the first verse of "Supersucker Drive-By Blues" about a bazillion times -...hilarious!

keep music evil.
