In the world of rock music, innovation and creativity have often been beaten mercilessly into submission and crammed into a nice easy box that is generic enough for fits the tsates of 90% of the audience. Thankfully Creature Feature is something creatively and completely different. This duo from the Los Angeles area wonderfully drags you into the realms of many classic horror movies, and then twists the stories into a dark, mischieveous rock tracks. Not since the days that Danny Elfman led (the Mystic Knights of) Oingo Boingo, has an act tooken such a darkly humorous and rocking auditory excursion.
Creature Feature sings about the circuses that exist in the Twilight Zone, the living dead, monsters, murder and mayhem. As a bonus, children can even learn their ABC's the Edward Gorey way. In an era where a CD is disposable after listening to a couple of tracks, "The Greatest Show Unearthed" is great listening from start to finish.

I purchased this album before it was picked up and released by Sumerian Records. It is absolutely delightful! With its spooky techno-rock sound, the Vincent Price/Edgar Allan Poe/Edward Gorey (among others) inspired atmosphere and macabre tongue-in-cheek humor, this is a favorite for Halloween and beyond the grave. I encourage everybody to buy themselves a copy to enjoy for themselves...especially late at night when the moon is full, the fog is thick and you've had your fill of horror movies. My personal favorite tracks are "Buried Alive", "Such Horrible Things" and "A Gorey Demise".

Finally something different...,
This review is from: Greatest Show Unearthed (Audio CD)
After hearing mostly the same types of music over and over in the so-called "mainstream," finally there is a breather. Here we have something different and VERY Halloween. Think of every old-school horror movie you've seen, and I guarantee this music will remind you of them. I love this soundtrack and almost every song on it. Everything about it is very fun--from the lyrics and the music itself. Can't wait for a second album.

if you threw voltaire, nightmare before christmas, a bunch of b horror movies and green day into a blender and pressed high, creature future would be the delicious result. creature features's songs remind me a lot of voltaire's, sans the cabaret sound. these are definitely rock songs and they're all catchy, the lead singer has a good voice. they sing about evil carnivals (a perfect theme song for 'johannes cabal the necromancer'), how to kill zombies, bodysnatcher invasions, and pay brilliant homage to edward gorey's gashlycrumb tinies and edgar allan poe. my 14 year old son loves this album and so do i. i know what i'll be listening to on halloween.

If you like Oingo Boingo (Esp. the earlier stuff, Before Dead Mans Party). You will like this album. It sounds like Danny Elfman and Tim Burton had a love child that was raised by Beetlejuice. It makes me Nostalgic for 1982 all over again. I only like a few songs off the cd, But the good ones are worth a download. I love the concept and the group, I can't wait to hear their second album.

I bought the CD befor they hit it big. They sold it on their myspace (myspace.com/creaturefeaturemusic). This Cd is remixed and has one more song. Creature Feature is a two man band but has added a drummer Kevin Majorino. They are a goulish delight. They take poems, films and other things to turn them into a crazy fun adventure! Their bigest hit A Gorey Demise which is a bunch of obituaries.
"A Is For Amber Who Drowned In A Pool B Is For Billy Who Was Eaten By Ghouls C Is For Curt With Disease Of The Brain D Is For Daniel Derailed On A Train E Is For Erik Who Was Buried Alive F Is For Frank Who Was Stabbed Through The Eye G Is For Greg Who Died In The Womb H Is For Heather Who Was Sealed In A Tomb One By One, We Bite The Dust We Kick The Bucket And Begin To Rust Give Up The Ghost When Your Number's Up We All Fall Down Ashes To Ashes, Bones To Paste You'll Wither Away In Your Resting Place Eternity In A Wooden Case We All Fall Down" I highly recomend this band! They are such nice guys I have had the delight of working with them and meeting them!!!!

Love the Idea/effort,
This review is from: Greatest Show Unearthed (Audio CD)
I'd love to rate them higher, but considering I only really like two songs on the whole cd... I can't. I love the effort, the creativity, the idea, but as a musical purchase... blah. The music is repetitive, and there is just only so much of that voice I can stand.

One of the best deathrock/goth rock releases of 2007.,
This review is from: Greatest Show Unearthed (Audio CD)
First, I will say that I don't own this album yet. However, a friend showed me this, and after listening to most of their songs, I'll have to say that it's a must have for any deathrocker if you're looking for some old-school deathrock revival. In other words, if you're a fan of Alien Sex Fiend, then give these guys a listen.
Highlights include- *The Greatest Show Unearthed *Buried Alive (the music video is sheer brilliance:) *A Gorey Demise *Bound And Gagged *Corpse In My Bed It's also worth mentioning that almost all the songs are quite catchy. And if you're new to the deathrock genre, then consider this a gateway drug of sorts.XD |
