Not the original Specialty recordings, but not too bad as far as remakes go.

Enjoyable stereo versions of the original hit arrangements of classic Little Richard songs.
These cuts are all worth hearing, though a limited pocketbook should apply to the 1950s' sessions, (also) very commonly available. These entries perhaps have more significance for the deep fan and historian, as they were produced at a time Little Richard's career when he had already decided to give up Rock and Roll and return to Gospel recording. The early '70s yielded some gems but also some strange releases, featuring a tired vocalist, actually struggling to stay on top. These August, 1976 cuts revealed a revitalized artist, able to do everything he did way back when. This Reviewer encourages the listener to drastically lower the pitch on every single song, contained herein. I strongly surmise that, as great as Richard was in the studio at that time, the powers-that-be still elected to "speed him up". With just 10 tunes, I'd say that any price-tag over 7.99 is too high. There are numerous CD collections out there with up to 20 of these recuts.

It's just the very tip of the iceberg, but it has the important classics,

You can't go wrong with Little Richard. I've loved him since I was five, which was when I first got this album. I loved it then, and I love it now. Little Richard is probably one of the most innovative proto-rock musicians.
He really created the energetic attitude of rock and roll. It's also obvious that he had a great time doing it. The influence that he had might not be very obvious when listening to a lot of the deeper and more emotional rock music of today, but he was probably the first musician to really have the rebellious attitude and energy that bands have today. The music doesn't have the musical complexity that some of the modern bands of today, like Dragonforce and Slipknot have. However, that's comparing a meat-lovers meal with a vegetarian meal. Little Richard really doesn't belong in any category of music, including rock and roll. Is it blues? Is it jazz? Is it rock? Is it gospel? What he did, and from what I know, still does, is very distinctive to this day. I have to recommend this album, or if not this one, any Little Richard compilation that includes these songs. There are other Little Richard compilations that have been more highly recommended by people, and have been more popular. Make sure that it includes all of the songs here, or a high amount of them. Most of the songs were co-written by him, but he really was a genius and a visionary. I also feel that he hasn't been given all of the credit that he deserves.

He is the best. The Man in his prime, a prime that goes on and on. He never disappoints. Perhaps the best living entertainer.
